"I've been asking the same question for a long time. Also why don't we want the things we can have lol "
Because if you get them.. its no longer a challenge..
It I think is just human nature to always want more.. but I also believe in everything happens for a reason.
This time Last year my world was slowly falling apart around my ears... because of that.. I met a few amazing people.. and through them, I met more.. and now even though there are days I just want to disappear for ever.... I know that I would be missed and that I have friends that are there for me.
also I always find that if I think I want something that bad.. when I get it.. I actually realise it wasnt what I wanted anyway... it was just that I couldnt have it that I pursued it..
does my ramblings make sense. |

Denial is such a strong emotion.. Weather that's in a sexually sense (blindfolds, teasing etc ) or in day to day situation..
If something is removed, held back the mind runs away with all the reasons why and that just keeps self fullfilng.
Its the itch in the one spot on your body you can't quite reach
But equally when you gain something you have converted for so long you realize it's not what you thought it was...

I agree its all about the challenge,I don't agree that its always the case that when you do get what you want its not as good as you expected.......sometimes expectations are wildly exceeded |

Human nature
When someone makes a million, they then wanna make two million.
When they get two million, they then want three million.
Then four
Then five
And so on...
Even when we get the things we've always wanted, we then find new things to want to replace the old things we wanted.
Humans are very hard to keep satisfied.
We always want more |

there is plenty to be content with, u just have to be able to adapt, I can have long periods of being alone, the only stimuli being nature around me...and I can be happy
accepting the grass is as green as ur side sometimes puts things into perspective
then think about how green ur grass is compared to someones desert |

It would a very boring life, if we all got exactly what we wanted...
The chase is fun, we should have to work a little for what we want..
And hopefully reap the rewards
But human nature dictates!! Unfortunately we can't all have what we want... Damn it!!!

To me, yes.
A lot of that resonates deeply with me & what I've been through (and still am).
Just hope that what I think I want now, materialises and doesn't leave me empty but enriches my life.
Do my ramblings make sense?! |

we're all hard-wired to want . . .
generally speaking -
- women want cock
- guys want pussy
everything else we want is just wanted in order to help us obtain our wants.
apologies to the bi/gay community for my generalisation but you get the drift. |

The grass seems greener on the other side. It happens all the time and most times when you do get what you want, you realize it wasn't that great after all. maybe its a means for us to set goals for ourselves and give life meaning, something to get out of bed for.. x |

"Why? Is it just human nature?"
I actually believe that nothing in life is unobtainable, it is a mindset that we are conditioned early on to want more, expect more.
If you want something then work to achieve your goals and reap the rewards.

The Dalai Lana when asked what surprised him most about humanity replied " man because he sacrifices his health in order to make money then sacrifices his money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present. The result being that he does not live in the the present or future, he lives as if he will never die, and then he dies having never really lived. " |

...and sometimes you just have to wait until you can get what you want. I've learnt to be patient. some things are worth it.
But I agree, that nothing is unobtainable. It's amazing how many people think "I'll never be able to have that" and just give up trying. If you don't try you'll never know. |
