Now since a lot of us have all had a nosey at what others look like, because you've obtained this new knowledge have your perceptions on what they might sound like changed? (Thats of course is if you'd given these peoples voices in the first place)
Ive now had to re think a few haha |

Ive one person in mind who i was totally flabbergasted by.. so she's gone from sounding like a butch gangster rapper type , too all high pitched singing 'the hills are alive with the sound of music' type lol |

The problem is you see a location and automatically associate the local accent with them!
Which often presents you with a few shocks - you end up with an 'east end brummie', 'a Scottish Bristolian' and ...... no, hang on - everyone in Devon and Somerset does sound like they drive a traaaaactor or acombine haaaaaaarvester and drink cidurrrrrrrrrrr!
|

simple way of solving this problem, everyone should have to type there messages in pm or on the forum using the way they speak accent wise so we can put a voice to a photo
geordie could be
Ye knaa what ah mean leik
Eeeh man, ahm gannin te the booza
etc etc

Why, is it cocker knee ?"
Just make sure you don't talk over her or you'll get "SHUTIT-YOU-SLAAAAAAAAG!" before she sends the boys round to remove your hands, feet and teeth then bury you in a shallow grave in the woods

But he might be selling buckets door to door. Just because he has a suit doesn't mean he's posh. He is decent looking totty though. |

We get that a lot. Because our location is Birmingham then people do think we have Birmingham accents when neither of us originate from Birmingham. |

Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria |
I remember a year or so ago I put a story about my cat bringing me a pressie on a dialect thread in Cumbrian (took me ages to work out the spellings)....bout 6 posts later I had to post a translation cos it were dead broad and I used Cumbrian counting words (yan, tyan, tetherer, metherer, pimp etc.) Was good fun and I ended up having a reet gud craic with a couple from Scotland what was originally from Spatry (Aspatria) |
