Pace of life gets a bit much sometimes so I've been trying to think of ways to bring more peace around me.
Here are some examples of things I've been trying:
- reducing background noise. Ie turning tv off when reading, on Internet etc
- turning off work devices. Eg. When an email comes in my laptop dings, so does my iPad and so does the phone . Emails do not go unnoticed !!
- spending a bit less time on fab! Working from home it's too easy to keep going on throughout the day. I recently spent a whole week off here, limiting myself to weekend only
- reading at night instead of watching tv
- spending time outside in the fresh air
Does anyone else feel the same and if so what else do you do / recommend that may help?

Lol! Fab is very distracting.....
I'm lying in bed in a Mediterranean island right now, and I'm still on here!
And, I agree the whole at home working thing. When I'm studying in evenings, (I'm mad , studying alongside the day job), electronic devices, and the fab forums!, keep distracting me! |

I've tried to 'calm things down' a number of times, it never last's long though.
Fresh air, no tv evenings and reading do help. I also enjoy long hot baths and early bed times
Failing that, pyriton works well |

When working from home fabs can be distracting. I've taken to putting my personal phone in another room. Then I have to move to get it.
My blackberry is always on and yes I get emails all the time. I try not to read or respond but I often do, as its easier to deal with straight away. But more often than not, the other person replies straight back causing more work!
I think modern day businesses expect you to work longer hours, and they know that those working from home do longer hours for fear of being questioned over their productivity. |

Work emails - schedule them in as an activity like you would any other, such as a meeting. I read my work emails twice-a-day.... once in the morning and again mid-afternoon. If you are uncomfortable with that, try 4 times per day.
Breaks - plan those in too... and stick to them. Treat yourself to a nice lunch. Move away from your work area for a coffee break..... make it feel like a proper break.
Leisure time - take it! Go for a walk, nip to the swimming baths, go and look at car showrooms.... anything! Just do something which isn't work or vegetating.

i swim and sauna twice a week and we try and spend at least one weekend a month camping or out in our bus,we usually go somewhere ancient and uninhabited like some standing stones or ancient woodland, we take no technology and cook in the open on a fire and sing songs all night....bliss x |

Not sure if you have a garden ? Maybe get a shed ....... summer house I know people thay have made them lovely log burners and have there hobby and craft things in there just to escape everyday life and the house... some paint them up .. put hanging baskets around do all sorts ... know some who moved a bed in there . lol love sheds one day I shall have a big one ner my pond . lol |
