Help!
I think there's a good chance I'm being a doofus but I've imported a whole load of CDs onto my laptop with a view to transferring them via USB to another computer.
Trouble is... when I put them on the other computer, they won't play. Apparently I need them to be MP3 files (which is what I thought they were) but it seems not.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? |

"Open iTunes.
Go to preferences.
General.
When you insert a CD
import settings
Import using MP3 encoder
Hope this helps. "
Shit... does this mean I have to do the whole lot again?! It took forever!
Farking Apple bastards! |

"Right click on one, select properties and see what type of file it is?
MPEG-4 Audio (.m4a)
"
Rather than start again You should be able to import into iTunes library - from wherever you saved them, and convert at same time. (I think) |

if they are mp4s... you may just have to convert them to mp3's
if you google you should be able to find one...... |

"Or stick to your cassette recorder
I think is probably the most likely answer! I'm friggin useless at this stuff!
Fabio... I'm not sure what you mean... look on google to convert them?
"
nerd time... mpeg 4 (mp4) is designed for audio and video.... mp3 is designed for audio only....
if you put it mp4 to mp3 converter in youtube, you should be able to find one..., then when you have them as mp3, you should be able to transfer easily.. plus mp3's are usually much smaller files... |

Okay... I've downloaded a converter thingy. When I try to search the tracks, either from the USB or in itunes it just says 'no items match your search'

You should be able to concert them in iTunes.
Highlight all the tracks , click advanced, then select concert to MP3.
It should take about 5 seconds per song. |

Don't forget to delete the MP4 versions of the songs or you will have two copies of each song. |

I have two teenage kids who are very into their music so iTunes has become a bit of a specialised subject in this house. |
