The laws of the UK permit his tribunal hearing which is being held in Manchester (although he is on a video link from Ashworth)to petition on his sanity. It seems he thinks his crimes are recreational and when judged against Tony Blair (invasion of Iraq) his deeds were petty. Given his stance should the whole hearing be brought to an end and his file marked insane and save the cost? Or is he entitled to the rights the law affords him? |

Public Execution is wrong ....... he should be allowed to live but not segregated, and should have to suffer at the hands of others, but they should be stopped before he dies ............ I know harsh and two rights don't make a wrong but .................... |

In theory yes to above.
However, someone who has been found guilty of, and also admits to torturing and killing children for fun should have a very limited set of human rights.
Precious little humanity in Ian Brady. |

I look at it this way, Ian Brady committed some fuckin awful crimes a long... long... LONG... time ago!
We've had a LOT of politicians that have committed worse over a shorter space of time and not taken responsibility for it all.
The guy at least deserves what he asks for in reason and I believe what he's asking for is well within reason. Let him die within his own legal rights FFS!
He's got more sense to him than most of the fame whores we're subjected to most days anyway. |

its not a public forum though is it, its a court room. a decision has been made about his sanity, keeping him in a high security hospital and he is appealing this because he wants to be in a normal prison. |

I agree with this, the law is the law and should be withheld for everyone, if we have faith in our justice system then they will deal with each case appropriately
I for one do not want to go back to the day of witch hunting, we live in a civilized society and I dont agree with the 'hang the bastard' attitude

Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair, David Cameron for starters. You take a look and see how many deaths they are responsible for alone.
Indirectly doesn't make things better, it just puts the weapon in someone elses hands and makes it legal.
Im not saying he's not a bad man, I'm saying he's got the right to die like a human being that has been incarcerated like one.
You become the subject of human law, you are subject to human rights. You might not like it, but that's the way the law is inclined. |

You cant separate politics from street level unless you dont have the heart to admit that you're at the mercy of monsters that consider you a statistic.
If you mourned at Thatcher's funeral, you cant ignore Brady and vice versa.
I'm not sorry if people cant accept that and I'm not open to change at this point. Cameron and IDS led to the deaths of thousands that shouldnt have been kicked off the sick over the last two years, Thatcher who once called Mandela a grubby little terrorist thought and decided worse agaist innocent English, Irish and Argentinian and Tony Blair put us amid an illegal war that has now resulted in the unchallenged drone bombing of children in mud huts in the middle east.
If you can't accept Brady's pleas, and yet accept the actions of politicians as though they're above the rest of us, you're either scared to death of being next or you've drawn a line in the sand and chosen one murderer over another! |

to me the term public forum means that the public can voice their opinion, not just look. the story i read also said that the images wer bein relayed to press etc so they arent actually in the room....pretty hard to be as its a video link. |

And that, in a nutshell, is why politicians always get away with it, as long as they're on the "winning" side. I also don't consider Brady to be a human being. |

No you specifically mentioned Thatcher, Blair and Cameron. Not the Nazis who were there for genocide. Whatever those three above may be guilty of it isn't that.
State sponsored killing during war is morally and legally (for some reason) different from torturing and killing children. And there has to be that distinction or anyone who has ever pulled a trigger in war would be in court. What you seem to want is some sort of utopia where we all love each other. Never gonna happen. |

yes I agree with this Steve. I agree with most of the above in that his crimes absolutely do not compare to political decisions at all. In fact I think that's quite worrying to even think that . As far his future what do the victims family's want? I'd be happy for them to decide. |
