The important thing is to start posting 
Don't worry about starting your own threads - that will come in time 
Also don't be afraid to express an opinion or point of view.
You may get shot down from time to time, but take it on the chin, not everyone will always agree with you 
Think before you post, don't drink before you post, a d*unken post is often regretted in the morning
And most importantly, have fun
