I laugh so im crap.....im not talking whoppers here as I don't tell whoppers,more like what greedy pig ate the last cake and im sitting there with crumbs round my mouth and saying it was'nt me  |

Everyone lies on a daily basis. Yes there are varying degrees from embelishing stories to trying to convince people gossip is fact and onto the ill do anything to save face lies.
Trust me I work with liars on a daily basis and you'd be amazed at how perturbed they get when challenged. Who me ? On my kids life etc.

my nicname at work is 'the champion liar'
we have a few adults with dementia and there are certain times of the day where they become frustrated, and i created a story that calms and settles them.
due to the fact my story telling is so believable they decided to incorporate the coping method into their care plans and the families are happy to go along with the story i created.
im just very believable |

Depends on the circumstance for me tbh...
Can lie through my back teeth to get a sly day off work or other "official" things.
Can't even tell the OH a simple white lie without breaking out into a big grin. I am so useless at it I gave up bothering to try a long time ago. |

That's just it. People lie to get advantages.....always have always will. Thankfully some have better moral compasses than others. |

Everyone lies to some extent its part of social interaction and keeping your position within a social group be it in person or online. Deception and intrigue helps make people more interesting too so its not really an offence against society. |

No they don't, my ex was always honest. He'd tell me if I looked a state. I prefer it that way. Now and then he'd say I looked nice and it obviously meant a lot more because I knew he was being honest.  |

It probably doesn't, however some have low self esteem and feel the need to lie in order to "fit in". Sad as people are best accepted for who they are. |
