I spec'ed my car from scratch, had her from new since Feb 2002, nearly 170k miles on the clock.
I know every sound that she makes, and what she is capable of, and not just the make.

Meanie Moo here and I know exactly what make and model of car I drive. I'm also pretty good at knowing what the problem is when it goes wrong too - which is not often I'm glad to say. It's also the first car I bought by myself without any advice from so called car expert friends lol |

I wouldn’t call myself a petrol head, but I have a fair knowledge about the makes, models and workings of older cars,,,,,
But basically since the days when we started moving away from carburettors and points,,,,, my interest in cars waned rapidly….!.
Although I still carry out most routine maintenance tasks on my own car, I have no passion for it, and I galdly pay for someone to do it when I don't have the time or when the job requires specialist knowlegde and skills … |

I prefer to have runflats so that I do not have to carry a spare, and it means I can continue to drive from x number miles at reduced speed should there be a puncture.
I was aware of their cost, however, I chose to have them from Day 1, and never regretted that decision.

I love cars, my previous & first car was a 2 litre petrol y reg mitsubishi carisma, it was red! Went like shit off a stick! It had dents & bumps and scratches all over but it was reliable looked ok and got us from a to b. Was gutted wen it went to scrappy heaven! Used to take boy racer's at the lights nearly every time! I now have a gun metal grey 1.6 astra, petrol goes like a rocket with a healthy growl after a new exhaust! I would love an Aston Martin dbs, thts my dream car. Husband is buying me a track day with one cos I am such a petrol head.... |

My ex-father in law was stopped by the boys in blue one evening and asked the registration of his car. "My car" he queried. "Yes Sir, your car." He gave them a reg number that was not the car he was driving. When queried he said "You asked for the number of my car, which is at home in the garage. This is the firm's car." |

Yes I know the make and model of my car. I have a lovely garage that I trust explicitly. I'm also a member of the aa.i can check the oil tyre pressure water bottle before a long journey.
But (and I'm about to be controversial) I've spent 5 years training to be an accountant to that my mechanic doesn't have to do his own tax return and I don't have to know how to strip an engine!! Xx |

Yes, I know the make model etc. I know what to look for under a bonnet and have a list for when I or someone I know is buying a car. But, I have no idea how to change a tyre
