Car Sharing to far away clubs - feel free to pick faults in this idea!

Why, seeing as I run a Private Hire business, this didn't occur to me sooner is beyond me but...

Ruby and I will be doing a bit of a Grand Tour over the rest of this year taking in some clubs which are a 'bit of a lick' from us (we're in NW Kent). As I run a people carrier with 7 seats, we'll be running all over the place with either... a mattress in the back (when I take the other five seats out!) OR... five empty seats behind us.

Now, I am sure there must be some luverly peeps out there who would love to go to some of the clubs we keep hearing about which are a fair old distance away, but which for some are out of the question due to the cost of getting there.

So... would anyone be up for sharing the fuel cost and coming with us?

And, more importantly, what pitfalls can you see in this idea..????

Be interested to see what you all think on this one...

And btw, I am NOT doing this for profit - just a straight dividing of the fuel cost.

Sounds like a good idea to me too. If they don't turn up you don't really lose anything as you were going anyway. Maybe if they want to leave early it might be difficult. On the plus side, you'll make new friends.

It won't appeal to all, I wouldn't get into a car with strangers and I wouldn't feel comfortable being reliant on someone elses timetable.

If all are happy though I think it would be a good idea.

Personally I think its a fantastic idea and shame you are so far away as diverting this way to collect me for a visit to chams is just a silly idea

You're right - there will always be those who want to make their own way there and back, but for many this could be their only way to get to clubs further afield.

As for timetables, that would have to be made clear from the start - so no different really to doing a normal night club run for me ("When I say 3am, I MEANS 3am - and NOT 3.15!! ..... or ya walkin'!"

When we do work out when we're going to do a run like this, I suppose I'll put it up in Meets and Events and see if there are any takers..

As for those of you who have already 'expressed and interest', you're all most welcome...... well...... most of you

Quite. The other thing is, there has got to be other Private Hire drivers with their own vehicle on Fabs who could do the same from where they are.

The more I think about it, the more I am surprised why I've never seen it discussed before...??

I've done this before - and will be doing it again in July! I agree getting into a car with a total stranger could be nerve wracking but it all comes down to communication and doing your homework - much like you would on any other meet!

As for sticking to someone else's timetable - again it's important to agree schedules in advance - but easily workable!

And does make a long trip so much more enjoyable than flying solo!

*especially if one of your passengers is making home made chocolate cup cakes!

We let some other cpl come with us in our car to La Chambra a few years back, well things did not go to plan for them, we had a cracking time, but the atmosphere on the way home the next next day could be cut with a knife lol never again, we travel alone now

One of the things that puts me off clubs is the cost of travel on top of the entrance fee.

Big pitfall is I can't sit anywhere but the front (vomit) or share space with smokers (vomit) and that makes me very rude and antisocial.

No, this is just a one-nighter. Maybe we could organise a tour later in the year.... Xtasia on Friday, Infusions on Saturday.... and if you can come up with a Sunday afternoon club, we could do that one the way home...... then take a week off to recover!!!!! LMAO!!!
