Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria

After taking the bull by the horns and telling my boss I'm unhappy in my current position, I have secured a sideways move into a Maintenance Support Improvement role so I'll be moving to the other side of the office on 1st July...

Very lucky in that when I spoke to my manager at the beginning of this month, she had just been chatting with the Maintenance Support manager regarding vacancies so she told me to forward my CV and after a couple of informal chats I was offered the move which I've gratefully accepted - if I'd left it a day or two, she may have forgotten the conversation and I'd still be perusing the internal vacancy board...

What great timing have other forum users had experience of?

Wow, well done and congratulations.

I am a firm believer in making people aware of what I am looking for - if I dont they wont know and I may miss important opportunities.

I have on more than one occasion landed a good contract / job simply by mentioning that I was looking to take on more work to the right person.

Congrats!

My current job was available when I decided to quit my previous job due to plant closure. The new job is in the same county which meant I did not need to relocate.

I was definitely at the right place at the right time.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I always resign before I know where I am going to go next. Nine years ago I resigned from a great job and two weeks later my dream job was advertised. One application, a hotly contested interview, assessment centre and presentation process later I got the job without looking at any others.

I was with one employer for 12 years, resigned 3 times and got offered a job at another department immediately.

I guess I must have been doing something right!

The last time I resign I had to leave as I was divorcing my then hubby. We met at work, and reported to the same boss at one stage. It was too emotional and awkward for me to remain.
