Lost 5 stone in weight

Hi people.

I thought I would like to share with you, that I used to be Obese, and I mean Obese, I was fed up with being fat, so I eventually did something about it. I took myself off to Weight Watchers, I was nervous walking through the door, with so many women being there, and me being a bloke. I was so surprised at how many men did turn up at the meeting. When the lady at the scales told me my goal weight was 13st, I could of slpped her face, and said don't be ridiculous, but to my amazement, I am nearly a few stone from my goal weight. I had only put on 1/2lbs over Christmas, and the new Year, so what I am trying to tell you guys, if you are a man, and you need help losing weight, forget Slimfast, and all the fad diets, and go to a well known slimming club, who will help you lose it, and get you to your goal weight. You have better luck in finding attractive people, when you are slimmer.

If you need help, I am always at hand, I will give you some good balanced menus so you can follow them. The secret of dieting is to drink 8 glasses of water a day.

"You have better luck in finding attractive people, when you are slimmer."

Be if fat / thin / small / tall / white / green / blue we're all attractive in someone#s eyes, some BBWs are very attractive, go read at some BBWs threads, anyway, personality over looks any time.

Good luck on your achievement

You are right, I walk a lot, I would never pay to go to a gym, because at the end of the day, once you stop the exercising, you put it all back on again, and muscle weight weighs heavy too.

didnt read that bit in the original post - have to say i dont agree with that. i am a size 24 and have met some very attractive guys on here. that being said i agree with bi 1 and say its definately more about personality than looks.

"i hve no willpower what so ever "

Why not challenge yourself, set a goal, 30 mins a day skipping, walking up and down stairs, etc., etc., also, get a wall chart place it where it's visible, write your weight on a weekly basis, once you notice a decrease this should give you more motivation.

I write down everything I eat, I also do a chart weekly, I have changed my eating habits. I don't eat junk food, cakes, etc.

good ideas - i pledged that once the snow went i will park in the park and ride down the road from my work which is about quarter of a mile away and walk in every day.

to be honest the only reason i would lose weight is health - am happy and enjoying life right now but would like it to go on a bit longer and my weight aint helping life expectancy lol

Good man ! Well done

I (Bob) lost just over 3 stone in 12 months, nothing fantastic granted but I needed to go from 18st to 15st, now I need to lose another 2st to reach my target weight.

How did (and how will) I do it ?

Willpower, sensible eating and cut down (not out - DOWN) the booze, exercise and away ya go

Great North Run last year was my goal, which I acheived. My Goal this year ?

Great North Run again, but with 15 minutes off last years time .....

The secret is not to make unrealistic goals .... be sensible, aim for goals that you feel confident that you can ahieve, if you're unrealistic, you'll fail, be demoralised then give up

I know 100% how you feel, i joined weight watchers about 3 years ago and weight in at 18st 5 and a half pound and was a size 22, i lost 8 stone 3 and half pound to get to my goal weight and i got to a size 10, it was the hardest thing i have ever done in my life but well worth it, worse thing i did was stop going to my meetings, i managed to maintain my goal weight for just over a year and then stopped going to class because i thought i had it sussed, but slowly the weight strted creaping back on and ive gone back upto a size 14, im so angry with myself but i went back to class the first tuesday after new year and im back on it so hope i can loose the bit of weight i put back on and im staying to class this time lol xxx

actually, its a balanced diet and regular exercise, drinking 8 glasses of water has been proved to be of no extra benefit, take it from me, I used to be 17stone, i'm now 12.7, I eat a balanced diet, do an hours gym work out and also martial arts, well done anyway, but dont mislead peeps who are looking to do the same.

yeah i 100% agree with you there, there is not secret to dieings its just common sence

burn more off than your putting in = weight loss

i never drank 8 glasses of water a day and lost over 8 stone, and i was never advised to drink that much water

and as for being able to attract better looking people when your slim, all i can say to that is i hope noone you've met is reading this thread lol

Those of you who have known us a long time know between us we have lost the equivalent of an average man.

Best benefit is the saving in petrol at todays prices

Seriously we both feel much better for it and K has now become a gym freak, something I would never have expected in a million years.

I could rant about people and what they see in size (height thread going on) and weight but we are all different, all have choices and should be allowed to explore those differences.

Personally (A) as long as they have a pulse (K says thats optional) I'll give em a chance pmsl

I am backing the water benefits to weight loss.

Drinking water purifies the body and staves off hunger pangs for a time. Therefor it's a great help to dieters.

Drinking tea , coffee etc will have the same effect but maybe not as detoxifying. Water is supposed to be our only drink after all.

Problem comes when someone puts something arbitrary on it like ... 8 glasses. Makes is sound faddy....

How did you all come to be so fat ?

That's true - regular exercise is central to combatting depression i'm told.

I certainly feel down if i haven't been out on the bike for a while.

It's horrible when injury/illness stops you doing the things you like.

What about swimming? It's good for preventing strain on load-bearing joints like knees etc. & it is one of the top three cardio-vascular exercise regimes (others being walking/running & cycling).

I had a bad fall and broke my coccyx, bruised my ribs, hip, shoulder and wrist, I had just finished three months physio on my hip after an earlier hip injury, and aggravated that all over again. I can't stand or walk for very long now without having to sit down or take strong pain killers. Bloody nuisance, as I was always incredibly active and walked everywhere.

Unfortunately I can't swim , scared of the water, stupid I know but have tried on numerous occasions but just can't do it.

I am determined to lose weight this year though, it will just take longer for me, I shall have to get more SEXERCISE, as funnily enough I don't have any problems with most things to do with that pursuit (gone are the days of swinging from the chandelier though)

Bugger! I know you are scared of the water, but have you considered pool aerobics at your local baths? These allow you to exercise with the water supporting your joints - you won't be swimming though as it's in the shallow bit. It will help burn calories and may help you over your fear of water?

Just a suggestion.
