A perfect example of the ever shrinking scale of the average family car….
Back in the day they were a good size car with plenty room for the average family which the standard Cortina model was always aimed at….

A guy that lives near to us owns the police Ford Anglia they used for heartbeat.
I once got to sit in it and start it up.
It was a lot smaller than I ever remembered in the 60s.
Classic cars are really much better looking than today's, that all look like copies of each other. |

I think cars are going the other way and getting bigger. I have an old Volvo estate and it is dwarfed by most modern things now. I have had no end of times when I can't see it in amongst a car park of more modern cars.

Yes I'd agree that big cars are getting bigger,,,,, but the average modern family car seems to be getting smaller inline with the increasing cost of modern motoring….!.
I see more families running about in Focus sized cars rather than a Mondeo size car which would naturally follow the evolutionary line of Cortina and its replacement the Sierra.... |

"thing is ... in those days, you could see a car in the disance and know exactly what make/model it was.
these days i mostly don't have a clue without looking at the badge"
Yep I totally agree,,,,,,,, every mainstream car now just look like any other bland Euro box……
Theres no individaul character about them at all…. |
