I used to think 'curvy' was a feminine description but I have just seen a cpl's profile where the guy is described as 'curvy'.
There's got to be something closer for the guys to choose. Shall we leave this description for the ladies??
I love CURVY(fem) by the way |

To me stocky means at least some muscular bulk to the size. To be fair there's not really much of a choice for guys other than curvy to imply they have a bit of padding.... and not many masculine ways of putting it.
Chubby
Paunchy
Rotund
Upholstered

"I'm of the opinion these euphemisms should all be binned. Lets call fat fat! "
The only problem with that is 'fat' could mean Robbie Williams after he's been on a bender for a month or Rik Waller. |

"here we go again with labelling ...we are all different just get on with it and floro my sweet your not fat so hush woman ...."
Whats wrong with labels? I don't get why people think labels are bad? It helps us sort the people we like surely? Eg we are smokers. That's a label we carry that loses us meets with people. But we'd never lie about who and what we are. |

But how many smokers threads do you see and how many go tits up..seems some are obsessed with labelling like I say each to their own...hence we are all different... |

Because curvy is not fat, curvy is a shape not a size. Yes granted some larger people prefer to use the word curvy about themselves, but curvy represents a woman with full breasts, a slimmer waist, fuller hips to me.
And people can call themselves what they like and we should respect that and not be so rude |

Fat would be a fine description if it wasn't often used as a way to hurt or insult someone. Fat bitch, fucking fatty, fatty fatty bum bum etc. Is it so hard to understand why us larger people want a nicer word to describe ourselves?
It amuses me why people wonder why peopleg get defensive about being called fat. Yes stop eating as one poster said but that's not going to change anything overnight is it?? Why can't we just be nice to people regardless of their size?
why can't people understand that it's not simply a case of stop eating. There are sometimes medical reasons why it's harder to lose weight (note I didn't day impossible) there are sometimes physiological reasons why someone can't become more active to assist in weight loss etc.
Sometimes instead of judging and victimising and making fun of people we should stop and ask ourselves how we wouldfeel if someone we lived or even yourself would feel if the tables were turned.
And so endeth my sermon |

Regarding the word curvy for men then I feel something else should be used. Men don't have curvy figures, if they did they'd be a pretty weird looking bloke.
I don't really know what these 'curvy' men are trying to say about their body shape. Maybe they do mean a bigger man. Stocky represents a bigger man who is not tall to me.
My OH does not have a 6 pack chest and rippling biceps like a gladiator, he has a soft rounded tummy but he's not big all over his body, he is tall too so he's just average. |

Its difficult to describe mens body shape
I don't even look at what they've described themselves as on their profiles
I just look at the pretty pictures and make my own mind up with my inbuilt drool o meter |

I hate political correctness!"
Not every stocky or curvy person is fat. It's also subjective. I've heard Beyonce and Cheryl Cole described as fat! |

But if you don't define what you are with labels you run the risk of turning up to meets to be told:
Sorry but you're ;
Too fat
Too thin
Too smelling of smoke
Too bi
Etc |

Fat? I don't think so
Loving your attempt to try and be all controversial with the fat comments and try to piss people.off.......do try to be more original though the same comments have been made on these threads since the site began, come back with something slightly more mature if its possible |

I don't get it either. How do you differentiate between baked beans and Pedigree Chum, Andrex from store brand, from vinegar if not for labels?!! |

When you ask the butcher to trim the fat off of some meat are you insulting your steak?
Are food manufactures trying to be offensive when they put the fat content on the packaging?
Fat on it's own isn't a rude or offensive word.
You ask someone "Which of those guys over there is Fred?"... the reply is one of the following:
1 - He's the short guy with dark hair
2 - He's the tall guy with dark hair
3 - He's the thin guy with dark hair
4 - He's the fat guy with dark hair
How you feel about reply number 4 is down to your thoughts and inner beliefs about being fat.

Number 4 isn't offensive. I'd cheaply with number 4. It's just unfortunate that some people would have to say he's the fucking fatty with dark hair.
If people Just used it as a descriptive word it would be fine but some/most people don't. |

I have actually turn down guys who have classed themselves as curvy I find it that off putting, not because they carry a bit of weight, I just think what kind of man looks at himself and thinks...I know, i'm curvy? its just not a body shape that men should ever use on themselves use Ample, there's already a option there for such men |

I think the problem is that people use terms which don't apply to them really.
Curvy for me would be a woman of ample breasts and ass who is in good shape; that is her physiology; not someone who is fat.
What bloke would call himself curvy? Ridiculous. if you're curvy and you're a bloke, you're fat. |
