Love is different things to different people.
I love my kids, my family and my friends all in different ways.
I've been in love and fallen out of love.
You sometimes don't realise you love someone until they are no longer part of your life.

Love cannot be specifically defined as it is an emotional state shared between 2 (maybe more?) people who themselves may have a different concept of what love feels like.
It is both an individual and mutually shared feeling of togetherness which for most people is so strong mere words cannot accurately articulate the strength of it's being.
And then there is the even greater feeling of love people feel at times of separation or during highly charged emotional experiences such as childbirth etc.
I guess what I'm saying is that love is either something you feel or something you lack and truth be told the only person who can answer the question of what is love is the individual who seeks the answer and that answer will only ever become apparent to them at the point they actually fall in love.
That's what I think anyway speaking from experience of loving my partner unconditionally.

Different kinds of love, the love for your parents, children, friends. Then there is the love of a partner, that is individual to each relationship. Love should (for me) be an easy relaxed mutual feeling between two (or more) people, unconditional, warm glow feeling that just gets stronger |

Love (partner wise) is unconditional, a bond that can't be broken and a feeling of being one.
Trust, honesty and communication being at the forefront and without those imo you can't form the basis of a true loving relationship. |

Love is also a word thats thrown about willynilly with no second thought or real meaning or feeling behind it..
All so often the word love is used as a means to gain and not for its true intent!! |

I see love this way.
Humans as a species have achieved a lot, due to our ability to, for the most part, coexist and pool our resources - we couldn't do this had we not gradually evolved an ability to empathise with one another and show a certain amount concern for the well being of those other than ourselves. 'Love' to me, is what happens when this empathy grows to such an extent that you actually begin to feel the emotions of another person, when they're happy you're happy, when they get hurt you get hurt etc, so 'love' makes you want to do your best for those you love in order to keep things fine and dandy for them and you. |
