As I occasionally venture south of the border, what on earth are "batter bits" and "scraps"??
In the civilised northern part of the UK, we have fish 'n' chips, and the occasional more upmarket establishment might offer a choice of haddock, cod or even plaice.
So could you enlighten me please? |

.
Usually they float at the top and they get scooped out and chucked away.
I am terrible - I like eating them with a spoon or a fork, only once a month though. |

Try some batter bits and see, they are great, honest!
Especially if you get some really chunky ones that you can dunk in mayo, heaven!!! |

Locally we call them 'scrumps' lol
I've worked in a couple of chippies and the kids would come in for them in a cone if they didn't have any money for chips as we would give them away...
Those were the days when chippies sold loads of fish, nowadays I don't think they sell half as much fish because it's so expensive.
I am talking about 30yrs ago by the way!!!! OMG how old do I feel? |

£3.20 for a sausage supper and £4.00 for a fish supper, can included, in the local fish van which comes round every Thursday
A while back someone took the humph and burnt down the garages where the vans are held over night, 6 vans went with it. Maybe it was an insurance job as the vans were looking a bit run down prior to the fire.
Thankfully all is well and new chippy vans are back on the road. |

"Excuse me, but southerners laugh at the Scottish delicacy, fried Mars bars, but you eat bits of batter?????????? "
Experience tells me that North of the border it's far from limited to Mars Bars
Haggis supper is one of my particular favourites after a night on the shillings, but deep fried Pizza...............WTF |

Haddock well done,chips and SCRAPS!
Fishcake = Minced fish, bit of mashed spud + parsley in breadcrumbs or batter.
Fish patty = Fish + sliced potato in batter.
Pie = Meat etc baked in a pastry crust (Incase of confusion)
Did 10 years at Ross Fish on Grimsby Docks and live in seaside resort next to Europes food town.
So got the Fish n Chip scene weighed up! R
