I'm on my way to see a specialist doctor about my burns, being escorted from my local hospital in an ambulance by two HOT medics, one lady, about 30, very pretty and a Gorgeous guy, around the same age....am I wrong to be flirting?
I'm not their patient, they're just giving me a ride (excuse the pun)   |

A displinary panel was told Gale responded to a 999 call at a home during a night shift where he encountered three d*unken women including the patient, who was complaining of stomach pains.During the call, one of the women – a friend of the patient – made sexually suggestive comments to Gale and told him he had a “nice bum”.She then performed a sex act on him.The hearing was told the next day Gale returned to the property and asked if the patient and her friend were there, but they were not in.Later that day a second ambulance attended the home because the patient was having difficulty breathing.Her friend told a different paramedic what had happened the previous night, February 21, 2011.The HCPC found Gale guilty of misconduct.Speaking after the hearing, panel chair Claire Bonnet said: “This was an abuse of trust which violated a professional boundary and seriously undermined the reputation of the profession.
“His actions in engaging in consensual sexual activity whilst on duty were deliberate or, at best, reckless.”An ambulance service spokesman said: “This is a matter we took extremely seriously. they dropped me off...no sex was involved whatsoever, they had both finished and we're driving back to base, I did flirt, well seemingly, the tasty guy hunted me down in the waiting room to give me his number!
I promise I'll meet him off shift though
seems ever sunburn has it's advantages  |

they were based in bath, which is where I was going, they had just done a job in trowbridge and we're taking the ambulance back....am I missing the big deal here?? |

The poor woman was being taken somewhere in an ambulance (I presume one that is used to transport people) after getting a bad case of heat/sun stroke.
She's probably been in quite a lot of discomfort and started a light hearted thread for people to have a pop at her.
I took the thread as how it was meant OP, a bit of frivolity during the weekend. I hope you feel better soon and make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Orange cordiel was recommended to me many years ago when I suffered with heat stroke. Hope it eases soon for you. |

Sun burn and heat stroke can be very painful and serious . I flirt with my patients some times if its appropriate it helps to calm them down and relax them ! But I never go any further the consequences are too serious I love my job to much to risk it !! Find me off duty then it's a different story  |

I don't mind a bit of harmless flirting, the operative word being 'harmless'. At the end of the day, we're still human, whether we're in greens or not. Given the OP's scenario, there is no immediate threat to life, there is no treatment to be done, so are you supposed to sit in silence for the rest of the trip to hospital after getting your history? The most important part of our job is to make a patient feel at ease and feel comfortable, so you'll talk about anything and everything. I'm naturally a flirty person, and absolutely love having banter with my patients, but you quickly realise what sort of patient you're dealing with, and what sort of conversation you can have.
OP, keep flirting if you want, it's all good!

Ha ha ha! What taxes exactly? Makes me laugh this. We're funded from health insurance, so National Insurance, and if you want to be pedantic about things, I suppose we pay our own wages too then. So the crew who took the OP were just getting their money's worth. |

best way to relax someone is to have a laugh with them .dont matter if its a ride to the hospital our a rtc. it puts people at ease and makes the job more enjoyable.  |

A bit of flirting (in any profession) is part of the normal day to day interaction between humans. As somebody else said, it may help a patient to relax and take their mind off things.
What the paramedic did is unforgivable as a severe breach of trust. He deserved to lose his job. |

Never got sunburn? Never twisted your ankle? Never cut your finger open? Accidents happen, but ALL accidents are technically avoidable. Just make sure you wear factor 50 at all times, safety shoes when venturing anywhere and chain mail gloves when opening a tin or washing the dishes. |

clearly I should've gone out wearing a jumper and jeans, perhaps even a coat?
It was a hot day, I had sunblock on, I wasn't scantily clad....shame on me!!!!
seriously, I can't believe that people are looking down their noses at me because I got sunburnt!!!
would you call someone who had cancer irresponsible for being out in the sun or smoking???? Have you never injured yourself accidentally???

In over 16 years as an ambulance paramedic I never once flirted with a patient - I just don't find sick people fanciable. However, as has been pointed out, some patients are put at ease with a bit of "banter". Now that I do solo work, not so much of an issue, but I have been flirted with by women, usually when they're d*unk. |

All times I have seen paramedics I cant remember if they were sexy or not, but saying that I was normally getting scraped up off the road due to coning off my bike.
