The OH has planned a trip to Yorkshire for a long weekend, I've never been before and would love to make the most of our trip up there, apparently there is a four poster bed and a hot tub in the cabin which will keep us entertained for the most part but when we do come up for air can anyone recommend some sights to see and places well worth checking out? Many thanks xxx

"That's a good point it's a huge area, we shall be staying in East Riding, it's in the sticks x"
Again, which bit?
If you're in the East Riding some of the recommendations will be a couple of hours drive.
But the coast is glorious. And you may be near York if you like towns - walking the walls on a sunny day is a good way to get a feel of the city. |

wherever you go, stay off the moors at night.Stay on the path
Whitby is a nice little town with some good history. Sneaky tip; don't get ripped off paying to get in. Walk round it and climb over a wall. |

"Youtopia its couples night on Saturday.
We were thinking of going to a club but may be a little far, I couldn't quite work out where it is x"
The nearest clubs would be youtopia outside Scarborough, isis in Leeds or la chambre in sheffield.
The deep in hull is definitely worth a visit, but if the weathers good then enjoy the coast. |

Just booked a week in a cottage between York and the east coast late aug / early september
Walks in the wolds, walks on the moors, seaside at Whitby, Scarborough and Filey, York city centre all and all the smaller market towns + a few good pubs and chippies can all expect a visit |

If you like stately homes then castle Howard is worth a visit, it's where they filmed the original brideshead revisited.
The house is amazing but if you just fancy the grounds they are beautiful too - there's even a little train! |

If you do visit York take advantage of the park and ride. it will save you time and money on trying to find a car park.
Getting to some of the other coastal spots will be a bit of a nightmare this weekend due to the good weather.
If you do fancy calling at Whitby go to Pickering and get there by the north Yorkshire steam train and call at Goathland were heartbeat was filmed. |

Last time we went to Hebdon Bridge(about 10 years ago) it was definitely in Yorkshire have they moved it. |
