I'm going to call on your collective knowledge now lovelies....what's best for sunburn???

Got quite badly burnt on the beach yesterday and now have bright red and very sore boobies :-/ have been using aloe Vera gel but not getting much relief...stupid fair skin

I have very sensitive skin, so something gentle but soothing??

(and yes, before you say....I should've been more careful, I know :-/)

I like Calamine Lotion - I guess partly because it feels so cool when first applied.

Hope they feel better soon.

sudocremes a bit impractical as it's messy and most aftersuns I've used in the past make it more painful (stupidly sensitive skin :-/) thanks for the suggestions though

Don't use oils. They will carry on cooking you. The pain is caused by the air moving over the burnt bits so if its really intolerable, put cling film over them. I know it sounds daft but its first line care in new burns.

Factor 50 beforehand?

Sorry... sunburn sucks... a lukewarm bath with vinegar is revolting but it works. Tried and tested... several times over.

(Never use natural yoghurt... it's recommended all over the place but when it dries it smells bad and it's too sore to wash it off.)

Not full of 'strong' nasty chemicals.

"Calamine is a medicine traditionally used to relieve itching and soothe minor skin irritations.

It works by its counter-irritant effect. After application to the skin the calamine evaporates, which produces a cooling effect that helps distract you from the itch. This sensation also helps relieve sunburn.

Calamine lotions and creams also contain the active ingredient zinc oxide, which has antiseptic properties that help prevent infection from scratching". From the net.

It's a very traditional remedy.

When I got burnt last summer I used Acriflex burn cream. I think Superdrug or Boots sell it and it's great. It cools your skin down & relieves the discomfort. It's also good for applying on a new tattoo

Oh, just remembered. Place some proper oats in a cloth, tie it up, hang over the hot tap in the bath and let the water run over. It makes a soothing bath. Not too hot of course.

I always have some in the medicine cupboard - shake well before applying with cotton wool. Gently dab it on.

You can re-apply as often as you wish.

Baby oil - Wont cook you unless its exposed to The Sunshine or high temperatures or bright sunbed style lights..

it is however advisable to have a lukewarm bath/shower and Then apply some Baby oil to lock in the moisture - whilst your still wet.. (no pun intended)...

At the risk of sounding like a monumental perv, I would suggest covering said burns in Natural Yoghurt.

Doesn't sound great but I've heard it works well!!

Definitely calomine lotion. Best thing for just about everything, or soak a towel in cold water and cover burnt bits until it's warm then refresh. Lots and lots of moisturiser and drink water.
