Ive just been told by my Doctor i need to rest.. i just felt like laughing. Its impossible id say with a very active 3 and a half year old, no other half and a household that needs cleaning..

How do you rest?

I got told that after my recent hospital stay. So I'm cutting my days down from 7 a week to 6.

I also work my day around what my fatigue from my Endo treatment allows.

Rest in the sun. If you're signed off it's doctor's orders.

Just do the bare minimum. Ironing etc can wait till you're better. Get your little one to play 'nurse'.

You can go out just don't post it on Facebook so your employers don't see it lol

Also don't do anything strenuous. Just sit on the beach in the sun

Pay someone

Since my operation I've struggled to walk my dogs so been paying my dog sitter £30 a week, it's money well spent especially as I'm back at work now

O o O oo

It depends on what you are resting from. If it is stressed out type of rest then to relax is probably suited.

If it is to rest something that is giving you a problem health wise then it will be just that, rest from it....so long days out at a park probably won't help.

Is this thread to see what employers will think of what you are doing while you are off sick? If it isn't, then maybe the Doctor might have given you more advice as to what she /he meant if you had asked.

I would also advise to keep everything off social network sites etc. I know a few people who have lost their job by posting stuff while they are meant to be sick....Rest which pretty much means being house bound....

Having been there signed off for a long period with stress and other issues, I would say fo what you feel is right.

My employers left me to it, and told me to do whatever I needed, in order to get me back to work. The Dr said the same.

So it will depend on your reason for being off, as to what you can do.

Just don't overdo it.

Does he mean rest or just take a break and chill out ?

There is a difference between the two.

If it is the chilling out option, then taking little 'un out would be a great way of getting from between 4 walls.

If he means a proper rest, how about getting someone else to take her (ur mum or a close friend ?) so she gets her day of fun and you get what you need, a day of peace, quiet and tranquility

That way you will be rested and serene - at least until the whirlwind returns with excited stories

Sometimes we need to put ourselves first. You can't help others if you don't help yourself first is my moto. If this means relaxing indoors or out in the sun on a beach as long as you are relaxing and taking care of yourself don't feel guilty.

Feet up for a couple of days then

See how you feel later in the week and if you feel OK, a day at the park may well be in order

Dark glasses and blonde wig required tho - just in case anyone from work might be taking their kids too

Sheffield

I'm having to rest while I finish my treatment. It means I have had to become selectively blind.

I can do basic household chores as long as I take it steady and have a lie down afterwards, but some days I can't do any.

And the next visitor I get will be asked to mop my kitchen floor - I can do the worktops and have got a dishwasher for the pots, but since vaccing really wipes me out I have just decided not to look down and always wear something on my feet till my next guest comes!

Yes there are chores that need to be done. But dust is not the enemy (unless you have an allergy) and just going somewhere pretty with a rug and some sarnies will always be better for you than dusting.
