Going to sound strange, both suffered in the past with it. But deep tissue/pressure point massage works.

If you got a round object (we got a baseball) simply lie on roll it onto the pressure points along back or legs. Hurts like hell if you hit the spot, keep the pressure on for 20seconds +.

Hope it helps..

Tramadol , hmm, don't know that one

.

I have been taking the four milligram ibuprofen but after it hitting the press with its link with heart attacks I was wondering if there was anything else.

My Grandfather suffered from it and eventually tried acupuncture , which certainly eased the pain.

I have had Sciatica for the last 10 years and this works for me.

1. Lie on the floor with your feet flat on the floor and knees bent at 90 degrees, rest your head on a book (used to be a video box) and place your hands on your tum. Lie like this for around 15/20 mins. It may bring a short spell of relief when you are having an attack, but do this at least once a day (preferably after work) as it helps the spine realign. I do every day and it works for me.

2 Diclofenac - a wonder drug that works for me

3. Try to find ou what sets it off and change that. Mine was set off when I bought a new car, at the time I was driving a lot and the seat played havoc with my back, so I changed the car. Now I can work out if a car is right for me by sitting in a seat for 5 mins

Good luck, let me know how you get on and I hope one of my suggestions works

I had it bad a coupla times last year while waiting for my hip replacement. One thing I did was have a colonic irrigation - didn't expect miracles but it eased the pain quite considerably! The therapist said that colon blockages could easily be putting additional pressure on the sciatic nerve. I also had a series of deep tissue sports massages that helped a bit. Mostly though, just have to wait it out

Diclofenac is a great painkiller but has to be taken regularly to be effective and you should be aware that it's the same stuff that is in voltarol gel - don't overdose!

Yoga and pilates are both very good for back issues (my sciatic problems started after a car shunted mine) but getting a memory foam mattress also really helped me.

Sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees, always helped me. Strong pain relief also helps, along with heat pads and laying on a hard surface x

Oh, and a TENS machine can give a wee bit of relief - my back specialist told me to ignore the instructions that said 15 mins only and to run it as long as I like

We slept on the floor last night , she didn't have to but did (ahh).

We have some army mattresses we use for guests .

It helped a bit , but that changed when the dogs got let in the room and I had a tennis ball inserted into my ear , had a face clean check and the grande finale and final straw was a chorus of dog farts at dog fart level.

That was quite an incentive to get up .
