"Any John Hughes film....but if forced to give an answer........Pretty In Pink. "
there are 2 answers to the question...
if we are talking "80's movie".. then I would take the breakfast club over pretty in pink!!! I know Controversial!!!
in fact.. i am going to more controversial... Ferris was underated... so was Adventures in babysitting!!!
if we are talking "best film made in the 80's"... then I am taking the empire strikes back!!! |

I never really warmed to The Breakfast Club, undoubtedly it is a great 80's teen angst film but PIP, (and its mirror opposite....Some Kind Of Wonderful), for me, just epitomises the 80's with the have's and the have not's culture of that decade.
Adventures In Babysitting is my all time favourite
guilty pleasure and criminally under-rated.
My favourite comedy of the 80's is Johnny Dangerously starring Michael Keaton in a slapstick comedy set in the gangster era of 1930's Chicago. |

But seriously there are so many 80's films you would probably have to split them into type...
I go with back to the future ..

I'm about to say something controversial, but I stand by it....dirty dancing has got to be one of the WORST films ever made! Beyond cheesy, terrible dancing for the most part and swayze gives me the creeps! Can honestly say, I wish I'd never seen it! |

Top and tailing the decade (both excellent but not sure id say best)
The Elephant Man (Though technically a 70's film as it was released in Jan 1980)
Goodfellas (Could be considered a 90's film but production started in 89) |

Find it odd that so many have said Platoon, yet not one mention of Full Metal Jacket and the outstanding acting of Vincent D'Onofrio and R. Lee Ermey...not to mention some of the best lines every spoken on film and a superb job of turning bits of the UK into Vietnam |
