Also depends on your budget .
Affluent , then a top hotel in Paris with champagne and truffles.
Like us , then a damp mobile home on the Isle of Wight with flat Coca Cola and cold chips . |

All pretty much served from either Liverpool or Manchester on budget airlines

Malta
Canary Islands
again, all with regular budget airline flights
Europe is pretty much your oyster these days

Myself and B have just spent a fantastic weekend in Bruge.
Not exactly a party destination but plenty to do and see in a long weekend. Easy to get too and cheap as well. |

Take a mini cruise to Stockholm or hamburg. Relax on the ship, quick sightseeing tour and then back home again.
Hamburg is best if late in the year, river is calmer than sea |
