I'm a Trainer/Facilitator and Slimmming World Consultant- I like to think I can tactfully deal with awkward delegates/members and I also tend to (usually) think before posting on the forums so that my opinion (whether it differs or agrees with the OP) is put across tactfully and non-offensively - I may think an OP is an aggressive, ill-informed, sometime illiterate, arsewipe of a twunt, but I hope that doesn't come across in my post (Oh, fuck...think I've outed meself there!)

I have never been suited to a job in the Diplomatic Service, but I do think it is possible to get your point across without being offensive.

I'm not always successful in achieving that, but I do at least try.

"Tact is the cowards no1 weapon against giving an honest answer"

Tact is the ability to tell the truth without being offensive.

Tactlessness isn't being up front and honest it's just not worrying about inciting disharmony.

Some take pride in saying they say what they are thinking. Most of the time it's because they have poor communication skills and take hammers to crack eggshells. Pointless.

plus when dealing with 'service users' and managing folk being 'void of tact' will soon bite you on the arse..

sometimes a bit of empathy helps when being 'tactfull'..
