He'll be segregated the minute he gets into prison, no one will be able to get near him.

He may have scattered her as the theory is he used his butchery skills to skin and dismember her. Awful.

Bridgwater - Somerset

Was kind of predictable, the 'defence' was so unlikely and loathsome.

As said, no real closure for the parents with the body not found.

Sentence should be proper life imprisonment.

If he were not segregated (they have to ask) it would be death penalty by other means. Despicable and monstrous though his actions were, I would not favour this.

It is possible (given his 'defence') he may not ask to be segregated with the other 'nonces', yes he might be that stupid!

I watched the news at lunch and they went through the whole story from scratch again including the phone call to police from the Mum literally seconds after she was abducted.

Absolutely harrowing!

I felt panic and nausea in equal measures listening to the poor woman trying to talk through the anxiety and fear.

He needs to spend a long life in prison being abused psychologically and physically by the rest of the freaks in his cell block.

The burden of proof was still on the prosecution to show that his story of running her over and panicking was a lie.

His family has to live with what he has done and April's parents will always wonder what happened to their daughter.

Few people live in a tiny cell with little or no exercise, extremely poor sanitation and only a chance of a shower once a week.

Nothing to do with being a 'do-gooder' and that is not a rational argument. And I know a fair bit about the families of murdered people. However, that is a specious and emotive argument. Fortunately legislation is passed by people less inclined to view things that way - and a good thing for all of us or there would be mob rule. Not a nice world to bring children into.

If you are referring to my opinion don't stress too much it's just an opinion. But if you kill one person because they killed another where does the cycle end true who the hell is he to take a life but then who the hell is anyone else to take a life also. And this may definitely be controversial if you have a four five six year old child who gets in a strangers cars smiling and happy to do so I think you have to question the parents parenting skills sorry I know this may stress some of you out but in my opinion it's true my nephew would never get in a strangers car as I wouldn't have when I was a child

Same old same old whenever this comes up on here..

accuse those whose point of view differs from you of being 'on the side' of a child killer..

or PC or 'do gooders'..

its predictable and usually spouted by those whose only point of view is to hang someone..

often without any input of how that if on the statute would lead to innocent folk also being killed by the state..

suppose that would be ok though as only 'they, the wrong uns' end up in nick..

surely we can agree to differ on our points of view withought chucking that pathetic remark at others..?

Quite unusually, Bridger has been given a whole life tariff.

Whilst that's no doubt well deserved, it does leave little incentive for him to ease the pain of April's parents by revealing what more he knows about her death.

Would we support a reduction in his sentence if he confessed what he'd done with April's remains, even at this late stage?

would need to know a bit more about how much of a risk he may be after he is assessed etc..

pretty sure that even if he was given the max term below a whole life tariff that no parole board would grant his release even if recommended by the 'experts'..

if it meant easing the parents pain then on the whole yes..

I think you need to read up on english criminal law mate. The jury can only convict on beyond reasonable doubt. That means more people are likely to get off even if they are 'guilty' than people who are innocent but the jury finds them guilty.

Torquay

He received the maximum sentence that could have been handed down to him I believe (correct me if I am wrong), the police, the prosecution, the judge, and the jury, could not have handled the case better in my opinion.

He has got his just desserts under our current Criminal Laws.

"If you are referring to my opinion don't stress too much it's just an opinion.

I eagerly await crazy reactions lol

Re read....I dont believe in the death penalty.

What most people believe in is that prison is actually a punishment"

Have you ever been in a prison? Or seen a real prison cell? Is your opinion on prison being cushy based on anything other than tabloid sensationalism?

I ask, because my understanding is that segregation cells, have no tv, no radio, often no windows, little or no access to writing materials, or reading material for that matter. And as already stated on this thread, no real exercise, no real sanitation.

The "cushy" perception is a myth created by the media.

Its depended on the wing...Segregation is the "block". You get issued with one prison letter a week so that you can write love ones..However in the cell it is very basis..You also get privilages taken away.. and you become a basis prisoner...

It is a depressing place but its there for punishment if you are to do something stupid. I doubt he will be placed in the block unless he becomes whats called a non conformest prisoner.

Usually depended on what you have done you are placed in the main prison however there are special wings for those that have carried out crimes and they know that as a result there is a risk to their safety.. Its all done on risks..usually those special wings have more threapy related stuff such a CBT and other stuff.. Prison is a very depressing place and it certainly tests your sanity...

prison is a cushy as the prisoner wants to make it, as for segregation it is used on prisoners who.tend to.kick off, prison such as child killers or sex offenders ask.to put on a Sept wing among there own type for safety reason, as for not having a television or radio or even writen material every prisoner has to earn the privilege of having a tv. The only.time they are locked in.a cell with no Windows is if the are segregated for violence towards other prisoners or staff or other acts deemed fit for sending him to the hole slang term, and no.before you ask I have not been inside but have lots of friends as prison wardens most ex squadies and 1 who is a governor at storage ways

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Why is the phrase "do-gooder" used on threads like this? What would people rather that we are all "do-badders"?

We incarcerate those that commit heinous crimes such as this. I don't believe it's an easy option. They may have committed inhumane crimes but they are still human. We remove their rights to freedom, that doesn't mean we should stop being humane and remove their rights as humans.
