Track down a Singer treadle model. Indestructible."
I learned to sew on one of them..... had a bullet shuttle not a round one. I was gutted when mum had to throw the thing out when it got woodworm in the casing cabinet. |

Weren't the bullet shuttle models very noisy? I recall my mother getting a very second hand round shuttle for that reason* and my dad converting the base and treadle mechanism from the boat shuttle to power a jig saw.
* she might have been making that up |
