Whilst there is a subject on men's magazines in the forum, should ladies mags by be banned too?

Often you see bikini clad women, eating disorders, sexual comments Blazed across the front covers.

The rise in under age pregnancy, grooming, provocative clothing and images are all down to the pressure these young girls face to be accepted. Add to that the use of the internet and social networks where anorexia, bulimia and self harming are readily available is just wrong. Media has a lot to answer for. Just my opinion...

Without doubt yes sexism has to be equal. Saying that i think it ok that mags cater for men and women seperately.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

If we ban magazines then we also need to ban newspaper and TV ads, and those stupid programmes on Sky and Channel 4 about how easy it is to lose weight as long as you have free access to a qualified dietician and gym.

Neither me nor my daughter read them, yet my daughter is concerned with her weight. She didn't get it from Cosmo so where did she get it from? (Not me either - I'm a laze).

Just ban them all! ..... We live in a democracy and one of the foundations of that is free speach and a media that is uncontrolled. As long as the mags arent promoting or contain anything illegal it shouldnt be banned. If it offends you(not aimed at one person) then you have the choice not to buy or look at it.

I do agree that lads/ladies mags should have an age limit of 16 at least

i like magazines my mum and my older sister used to buy them, i cant see much difference in them now except the fashion models look a bit too skinny.

i like looking at them, it doesnt make me want to look like that as i have a mind of my own.

young people are likely to be influenced by their parents and other people around them, not just magazines.
