Anyone got any easy ways of putting a king size duvet cover on by one person?
The funniest one I've ever seen is someone crawling into the duvet cover to get the opposite corners in from the opening.......... just saw these pair of feet hanging out the end lol!! It did look easy but there is no way I am going to do it that way? |

This method is made even easier if you hold the whole kiboodle over the upstairs banister when you shake it out. |

I'm beginning to think when you buy a duvet there should be an idiots guide of various ways of putting the duvet cover on the duvet.........!!
I think I'm suffering the typical woman's thingy of lacking spacial awareness, can't imagine the hanging the duvet over the bannister!!!! It sounds so plausible, but no idea how to do it! |

You've got the duvet by the two corners in your hands, right?
Now, just go over to the banister on the upstairs landing (if you have one) and dangle the whole thing over so it's falling into free space and shake it. The cover will drop down over the quilt, then all you have to do is do the poppers/buttons up. |

That's sounds like a right faff .. my method is simpler and if you live in a flat and don't have a banister, well, you're screwed basically. |

I use a double on my own, and I would lay the duvet cover on the bed, grab the two corners of the duvet furthest from me, and shove it into the cover until I reach the corner.
I'd then grab the said two corners and throw the cover/duvet in the air a couple of times, so that the cover covers more of the duvet, before I shove the remaining corners into the cover.
I may give laine's method I try in future as it sounds simplier! |

Yup, as had been said before, turn it inside out, grab the corners and away you go.
I learned that many moons ago from the Generation Game with Bruce 'give us a twirl, Forsyth |

If the cover is too wide for your arms wouldn't it be possible to attach the corners of the duvet to the cover with safety pins (or poppers or velcro for a more permanent internal fix) to keep them in place whilst you organise each side one at a time.
I'd also like to see someone manufacture a fitted bottom sheet with a duvet cover attached to stop all those fights over the duvet/ kicking the duvet off moments. It'd be a bummer to iron but who irons duvets, eh? |

All bedding gets washed inside out in my house dried inside out (well flung over a door by hubby) never iron anything if I can get away with it.
When it comes to changing beds I have to change 2 doubles and a single but the method has always been the same:
Collect all fresh bedding after removing cat from fresh bedding drawer under bed
Take all used bedding off bed after removing said cat from middle of bed while dodging her claws
Have pile of pillows and duvet at bottom of bed on floor for said cat to lie on while bed is changed
Put fitted sheet on bed while kids howl with laughter as I clamber across the bed cursing cos the sheet wont stay on the mattress while cat cleans her backside *in the middle of the bed*
Scream at kids "If you aint helping you aint in here" kids leave still laughing cat doesnt help or leave
Scream at hubby "if you dont help you aint sleeping in it" he responds with "be thru in a minute" translates as wait til I finish this hand of poker and finish winding up me dad on facebook
Grab top corners of duvet cover with rest scrunched up over arms
Grab top corners of duvet
Wiggle and wiggle cover over duvet
Stand on bed (careful of fresh fitted sheet it may decide to become unfitted) kick cat off fresh sheets
Wave duvet around room aiming for anyone who decides its safe to laugh again hit said cat with the wafting duvet
Throw duvet over bed and do up studs or buttons remove cat from inside the duvet cover after having found a huge lump that moves when patted down!!!
Waft again as duvet gets placed where its supposed to be on the bed lift duvet and threaten cat that if she doesnt get of the bed I will sell her to local Chinease take away she doesnt move again I pat lump it moves
Walk to top of bed and make sure top corners are still in top corners of cover
If top corners have moved scream at hubby or kids to fix it cos "I dont care if you sleep in a mile of rubbish but I want my bed sleepable today"
Hey presto bed made and cat has new place to cover in cat dander
