tyne and wear durham teesside any where in these areas

after reading this headline i wonder if the taxes we pay are being stolen ie road tax council tax feul tax. we dont seem to get what we pay for do we

feel for the councils whose planning was spot on and have reserves..

but I suppose we should share to the most needy..

It should all come out of the road tax never mind council tax.

Britain isn't a country where we have regular extremes of good and bad weather so we're not prepared for things like what's happened the past two weeks. We could stockpile salt & grit but it could end up sitting there for years waiting for bad weather such as this - with an army of council workers to look after it - but they the council would be lambasted for wasting money. They're in a no win situation.

Considering that this is the worst Winter we've had for 30 years I think they've done one hell of a job keeping the main arteries flowing so that food, medical and fuel supplies can get through. We'd soon be up in arms if Tesco's shelves were empty or Texaco had no petrol or, even worse, our hospitals ran out of the vital equipment and medicines they need.

In times like these, we need to all pull together and show some British Bulldog spirit instead of moaning about councils not doing enough.
