I assume that some do it to inform their friends, but the cynic in my thinks that some do it for the attention.
I often see them come back too.

I. Often think about it but don't .when I did leave once I did post a goodbye before I deleted our profile.you do get people talking to you that haven't messaged for ages so it is nice to tie up any loose ends there .i don't have a problem with it,poppyxx  |

If it is attention - they stay!
If it is to say goodbye, they leave- or are convinced by friends to have a break.
Most of us come back sooner or later! Lol  |

We all think about... Have done it twice and you come back and realise nothing's changed. However ! I think its a little sad. We all poke fun, but actually its a sad indictment that those people want the attention of relative strangers.
Only you can decide if you want to leave, and yes message a few friends if need be, but announce it to the forums ? No thanks, ill just quitely slip away until the next time. |

My thought are I don't really care. They can do what they like. Leave, come back, leave again inasmuch as they want. They can shout it from the highest hill, even tell the golden daffodils (wonder how many will guess that sing lol) it makes no difference to me whatsoever. |

It's the 1's that say there going then oh our friends have talked us into stopping then a week later friends clear out and again this site is a waste if time So were leaving oh our friends have talked us into staying with all the clear outs and threats they would not have friends to stop them leaving but funny to see on certain profiles all the time ha ha  |

Oh there's always a few on my friends list that do this - along with other crap and ' woe is me' status messages

No problem with that as you're informing people you know, not just making a random statement for the attention of no one in particular.
Then again why are any if us that bothered about what others do on this site as it won't affet us in any way ? |

Shouldn't this site have a motto ? Along the lines of live and let live ? Surely we all get irked by something and if all the irksome foibles were alleviated, what would be left to discuss on the forums ?  |

Agree with your thoughts on it being about attention seeking. Like the child in the playground "I'm not playing with you anymore" routine.
We have left the site and returned a couple of times, but never felt the need to announce it. I don't think anyone notices or cares so why announce it unless you want someone to beg you to reconsider ? |
