THE SOUTH WALES DAP...woolies sold 'daps'! its a word taken from the initials on the plastic tab that was stuck on the bottom of every pair. DAP stood for Dunlop ? ? cant remember the other two,lol!! every ordinary kid in south wales had a pair of daps in the late 60's early 70's....'n beyond! we now use the word dap to mean trainers,lol! mind you some kids would look at you daft if you said to them ...."i likes your daps, wear'd you get them from then?" the word will probably fade into miss-use over time...just like woolies on our high streets!lol! Hx |
