dudley

I have been informed today that my cooking skills are great, food smells really good and tastes even better but does not look that good.

To be fair to me it looks ok, but then again I am blind.

So the question

Does poorly presented food put you off or is it like me all about the taste and smell

There's a saying 'the first feast is with the eye'. I do believe that good food presentation is important, but first and foremost it has to taste good.

It can be off puting especially if it doesn't look as though it was fresh or hygienic prepared. The visual image of food goes back a long way into our past and still plays a part in what we will and won't eat. Saying that if its tastes like crap no matter how good it looks it doesn't get eaten.

Brighton - even Hove!

People generally choose food to eat if it looks good. It's a basic defense mechanism against being poisoned, then smell, then taste.

I'm not too bothered about how food looks, until my 20's I used to mash it all up anyway.

Being nosey - OP: how are you reading this? A friend or voice recognition software?

Did you have to say naughty words over and over until it recognised them? Or did it auto-correct?

Your sense of touch and hearing must be very good. I've read of blind people who can feel colours. A guy who could hear colours. He said red sounded like a trumpet.

On the one show last week they were on about it.

It has taken months to change the spelling from american to English. When I first started it would not say or spell any swear words, on here it was rather hard

Don't care how it's presented as long as it tastes good. Kyle's cooking is amazing. Really delicious and rustic. He doesn't phaff round with presenting it as such.

Another question.

How do you know when your food is properly cooked ? It's done by sight with me.

Time for most and I have a talking thermometer, plus I always try the food first

Well, technically chewed up food tastes the same as when it's on the plate..like my pasta today...right or wrong?

But if I spat it out on the plate and handed it to you..would you eat it?

Depending on how picky you are, I think not.

Therein is your answer.
