Some people just don't give a dam, strange, it's usually these type of people that shout from the roof tops for “Justice” should a member of their family be injured by someone with very similar actions. |

"it's the same all over the country. I travel quite a lot and see loads of people in all types of vehicles doing it every day "
I travel all the time up and down the Motorways and see it all of the time, IT annoys me when Bluetooth hands free kits are so cheap |

agree it's disgusting 100% and they are putting everyone else in danger
But
Just to give food for thought
Taxi Drivers
Ambulance Drivers
Police Car Drivers
to name but a few still using hand held microphones
Now I know that some Police drivers are trained to a higher standard and that Amubulance drivers recieve special training, I know that when there is another officer in the car that officer operates the radio but there are not always two, and in Ambulances the 2nd person is often in the back with the patient.
Coupled with the high speed driving, necessity to traverse on the wrong side of the road and through red lights is this a good and safe idea ? |

a child we knew's father was killed in an accident 3 days ago and a week ago I beeped a driver for cutting me up and he then overtook and slowed down to 20 on the fast lane of the m25 - unfortuantely you dont have to take a mental stability test as part of getting a license. |

a £10 solution to the ever present mobile phone/driving problem, can become a 3 points on your licence and an £80 fine, i know which option i have taken, maybe it's time mobiles came complete with a bluetooth headset, then the cost of the option aint the problem, user's being caught would have no defence ( not that they do anyway) |

just how did he overtake you if you were in the fast lane ? (undertaking in this country is still an offence)and if you took hid registration number and reported him at the earlest opotunity, the motorway camera's would hold up your claim and a conviction would insue |

They are trained to a very high standard, part of their training involves expect the unexpected, accidents involving emergency vehicles do happen, but are not that frequent, hence why they receive nationwide media coverage when they do occur. |

Are the emergency service not equipped with wireless devices yet? |

not to many years ago, a cetain police chief decided with the complete co-operation of the people involved, to take a car that had crashed whilst the driver was under the influence of drink( both he and the other person inolved we killed instantly in the said accident)around the schools and universities of the county, to display to the youth ( our future drivers) what could and does happen to you when you drive with irrisponcabilities, this stark reminder needs to be exhibited more often and more vividly for all to see |

I bet most have at some point have used their mobile whilst driving.
I'm sometimes guilty of it but as soon as i answer it i pull in as quick as i can and continue the call or quickly say i will call back.
Its a bad habit i need to stop but who else has bad driving habits as i am sure some have speeded, jumped red lights or have had road rage at some stage.
For someone who travels over 50k miles a year my vehicle is practically my office so a word of advice never drive whilst using a laptop and trying to do figures

It's not just the youth tho, some middle / elderly drivers are just as guilty |

Just seen a shocking sight...
was outside having a ciggy whilst contemplating whether or not to start digging our cars out of the deep snow we had last night when a car slowly approached on the icy surface.. as it passed me I noticed that not only was it the new couple that live over the road but sat on the drivers lap was their young daughter (guess 7 yo +/- a year) who also had hold of the steering wheel

I can remember years ago i sat on my dads lap whilst he was driving and was also steering the car. More than likely had no seatbelt on either.

Nobody in their right mind would ever shrug off drink driving as something as trivial as "a bad habit" - but the simple fact is the effect upon your reaction times and attention to the road while using a mobile is equivalent to being over the limit - in fact recent research suggests that using a mobile is even more dangerous than driving under the influence.

I think if someone is done for drink driving they should automatically get a life ban. Every other offence then they would have to take another test and if they failed would have to wait two years before they could take it again. |

I vote Diamond for president!
But on a serious note, I drive for a living, and some of the sights you see scare the bejabbers out of me! Standards have dropped. Even among Profesional drivers. But the scariest time of all was being in my artic and getting overtaken on a right hand blind bend by this gold coloured car, with trafic oncomming! Worse thing was as he screeched in to the small space in front of me and I slammed on the brakes I saw this little sticker on the boot "POLICE DRIVER IN TRAINING!" ffs it wasnt even a marked police car!! So when travelling between Hull and Beverley watch out for them!
Sorry for the rant! |
