Am I within my rights to return a laptop if I don't like the operating system the day after I bought it?

Did you buy it online or via the phone? If so, under the Distance Selling Regulations you are. If, however, you bought it in person in a shop then you've no entitlement to a refund nor a replacement unless it's faulty or you were missold it, i.e. you specifically asked if it can do something, you were told it can but later found out it can't.

Caveat Emptor and all that I'm afraid, old chap.

I’ve no idea,,,, But unless there’s a customer satisfaction guarantee....

I would say “No” as long as the laptop is working as intended....

Unless you can prove you were misled about its suitability for your needs, at the point of sale...

Take off your shoes, rub you feet on the carpet to build up static.

Remove the cover from the base of the laptop and touch the motherboard. That should frag it, return as faulty and get your money back.

And hope it doesn't have 'warranty void if broken' seals

What is so different to Windows 7? Is it just that you have to get used to it?

It's really quite awful, it attempts to use apps rather than programs, no start button...but it is possible to ignore many of the new features and get used to it

Really don't see what people's problem is with windows 8 it's the fastest operating system I have ever used. It just needs some getting use to. I never used any of the apps either there are ways round them. It has brought 2 laptops in my family back to live and with the upgrade at only £40 a pop at curries i would advice all to try it.

Just don't want you to have a wasted journey, when unless you opt for a Mac or a free OS like Linux, or roll back to win 7, you're probably not going to be able to avoid windows 8 forever. And if you do it'll just be win 10 to get used to later lol
