I have been reading an article about these today.

Next big must have gadget? Or do you think they will die a death due to the privacy issues?

The aesthetics will get better. I'm not sure how the public will react to them

Exactly I think it will be viewed as an invasion of privacy.

Scary thought all that radiation passing through your eyes, within a few years you could go blind (or start firing lasers out of them or something).

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Wasn't there a thread on this a few months ago?

I think once they become easy to use, affordable and come in different styles people will probably use them. Lawdy, there's already a trend for buying and wearing glasses with plain glass.

Thing is though, it's like when someone is wearing sunglasses. You can't tell who they are looking at. Imagine if they had the ability to record you !

I think there will be a fair few privacy issues around this technology.

So you would focus the way you would if watching tv?

Rather than focusing on a mirror?

If you know what im getting at...

Pretty much like a smart phone. They have a built in camera.

I think they will sell, they showed a guy who already owns one and he stated he hardly takes them off.

Think bout all those moments when your out, or you miss a photo/taking video cuz it took too long to get your phone out, scroll to the option and get it ready, meanwhile with glass u tell it to take a pic/video and its done instantly.

Can see bad and good points to it, Casinos are already banning them as whats to stop you streaming video to your friend playing poker or an app to help count cards etc.

Why? concealed camera technology has been with us for years, Maplins sell a pen camera for about £30 that records video and audio from your pocket, these devices have not caused an outcry of invasion of privacy and they are cheap and very much easier to hide than the Google glass.

Not sure I would approve of people using them whilst driving or operating other dangerous machines though.

Wearable computing has been around for a while, but this is probably the first product to attract widespread attention. This kind of tech certainly isn't going to disappear.

in the night garden

I can't see them catching on to the mainstream public, just tech geeks. You look a complete twat when you wear them, especially if you try and give them verbal commands.

What happens visually is that your head tilts up and to an angle as you look to the top right corner of your glass's HUD and then you talk. As an outsider looking at this scene all you can think is 'what a farking carnt'

This is true but it is far more subtle and accurate to just look at the subject whilst whispering record that hotties arse, than it is to try and point your pen at them.

Depending on what you are viewing it could be seen as a new class of Tourette's

Why would you look at the hotties arse any more you can have exrodent playing constant porn, whilst skyping with your mother on the other eye, as you drive down the motorway

As for talking to yourself, used to be it was the d*unks and the tramps wandering about the city centre talking to invisible friends, now it's mostly guys in suits, who do it after touching their ear... nobody will take any notice of these things.

This is not actually describing what I would be doing It is highlighting one of the privacy concerns
