As you know, ive been ill since sunday, so not been in work. I have kept contact with ward manager as per sickness policy, he is now contacting infection control to see if I can work whilst vomiting. Lets not bother about how the pstients would feel having thier qualie puking, or how rotten I feel. Now ive always believed that you have to be 48 hours clear from last episode.

Yep - that's what I understood!

And surely given your job - he should bloody know that!

I had to do the same when working as a Bakery Manager in a large superstore and needed tests before I was allowed back as I could have affected so many people

You have to be symptom free for 48hrs, and he knows it.

You have to be clear of D&V for 24 hours at the very minimum but most cases you need 48 hours clear before you go back to work.

That's why I am now self employed.

Why some managers like to interfere with you when you're sick I'll never know.

Ask the manager to come round and hold your sick bucket for you while you speak to infection control.

And people wonder why hospitals are rife with infection, if a Ward Manager doesnt know the rules is it any wonder?!

Hope you get well soon x

Common sense is to stay off until you are 48 hrs from your last episode... If this is an acute infection.. Otherwise go to your GP..

If you wish to PM me do so..

Reckon being puked in by your nurse has to be preferable to eating hospital food

I used to work for a herb company, no where near plant/warehouse as I was based in the offices and when I contracted swine flu in 2009 I had to wait until 48 hours after my last episode before even being allowed back to the premises let alone my office!

Im a qualified nurse of thirteen years experience. My post wad a rant about my boss expecting me to go into work whilst still puking and regards duty of care to my patients and my self. As I said in my post re 48 hours clear from last episode.

I have been to the doctors twice, monday, given anti emetics, and again this morning,.bloods taken, ? Gallstones, and urine dip for ? Diabetes she also suggested a pregnancy test, my heart nearly stopped lol.

Thank you for your kind offer xx
