Depends- find some a bit tedious but the docs/debates and the comedy is good.....tend to have 6 music on most of the time though

Good, it's not only me on here then.

I am a refugee from Radio 2 as I cannot abide Chris Evens and don't bother turning over later.

Im fascinated by the age complexion popping up in threads.

Whilst I have never listened to radio 4 ..I would say it makes you intellectual.

...as opposed to readers of the sun.

The exception to that rule is you listen to cliff richard, then your monumentally buggered.

Newcastle

i've always loved radio 4, and sometimes listen to 4extra, what with the constant nostalgia of comedies and serials. give a listen if you haven't already.

sometimes listening to the older comedies makes it sort of hard to work out why they were funny 'back in the day' - different times and all that. some are great though.

as for r4 i do like most of the things apart from 'you and yours'...the shipping forecast is always lovely, though maybe not if you are out in the north sea on a fishing boat!

John listens to Radio 2 and he's the older one of us. I've been listening to 4 for over 10 years now. Mainly because I drive a fair bit with work and music gets boring to me after a while. But I do sometimes feel a bit geeky. I'm not an interlectual you see lol. If I take my car to a garage I usually change side so they don't think I'm a boring old git

Did I just admit that

Some superb comedy and documentaries on R4... sometimes it's the only thing that makes the licence fee worth paying for!

"My dad used to make us listen to radio 4 plays as kids"

This sounds sinister.

It's a bit like when my Dad made me listen to a Jethro Tull concept album. There are freephone lines for that shit.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Yes it does. Proud to have been a boring old fart for the last 30+ years.

I remember hearing the "Going out for an English" Goodness Gracious Me sketch late one Friday night on R4 long before it made it to television.

Certainly not m'dear, you get much better pictures than on the TV.

What is your favourite R4 programme?

I love FOOC and Any Questions, find Woman's Hour and You & Yours VERY informative, but lost interest in the Archers YEARS ago. Now The Beetle has left, I might give it a try again.

I hate to tell you Adam, but you do not need a TV license to listen to the radio!

As I do not have a TV, I do not have a TV License. And try telling that to the TV License Gestapo!!
