To be fair if I had spent approx 200 million pound on players then wanted another 100 million and then get beaten in the cup final against a soon-to-be relegated side and finished 10 points behind the league winners, I just might have been expecting it.
Wouldnt feel to sorry for him though as he will hop back aboard the managerial merry go round soon enough.

Amused that people think this about football. They're not selling any shirts if they don't win anything, or no-one is talking about their brand.
You could substitute Manchester City FC with a Tesco Extra....
"The Manager of the Etihad Tesco Extra in Manchester has today left the company by mutual agreement after failing to win the customer service award or sales team of the year"
It's horseshit. Why people watch the premiership (certainly the top half) is beyond me. It's like the scripted wrestling from the US. |

I think he was great handling the whole teves saga last season and he dealt with baloteli really well too. I do think many of his signings have not done as well as they should though. They play good football at times but they are not as good as united or even chelski on paper I dont think. With the money he spent, they should have stronger squad |

"Utter joke the guy bought much needed stability to the club...not enuf for the board. .they don't get football ..."
Sadly, they paid the bills that bought them the league last year. Owners today feel they can meddle in clubs affairs no matter what. Man City fans now realise what Chelsea know all to well...it's not your club anymore. |

Good manager but I do feel he should have acheived more with the squad he had. It was a mistake not to strengthen this season and it has cost him...
Pellegrini is a good manager too and he has done well in the champions league with Malaga and Villarreal and I think ultimately... European success is what the board is after! Mancini failed dismally on that front...
I do think he definitely had a fair crack of the whip though and did pretty well but he really should have signed some quality this season instead of washed up fringe players like Maicon. |

"Would love to see these so called top managers at top clubs go manage a team on a small budget see how they do then"
It works both ways, do you think any manager of a small team could just go and win titles with a big side?
Theres very few elite coaches around, but you can definitely see what they bring to the table. |

I think they got it wrong on this occasion
There was always going to be the dip after lady season, and any other expectation otherwise was unrealistic.
.
Going back through history, how close was SAF to losing his job in his first five years at Utd ?
Though I wouldn't put Bobby Manc in his league
If City are to develop as per their vision then the next season would have been the test.
If they had failed at that stage then fair enough
But to sack him now is short sighted |

The thing people are forgetting is when SAF took over, even Arsene, the premier league and football in general wasn't the massive money spinner it is right now. The game is worth billions at the moment and owners are investing heavily because of this.
Moyes for example, its all well and good saying he needs time to set his things in but being as big as United, they need to win quite often. He can afford to not win a trophy in his 1st year and his 2nd he definately will need to. The biggest reason IMO is Uniteds debt |

They're a good example of sticking by your manager through both the good and bad times tho' surely. How much more patience arsenal will show with Monsieur Wenger I do wonder now. |

A valid point Beautiful.
Considering how much that squad cost to assemble, some players have underperformed this season. |

While we haven't won anything, we've been a top four side for the last 16 years and on a budget.
We're loaded, it's just we don't spend as irresponsibly as other clubs and yes, I would like to see silverware but not like see the club unsettled.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, you can't have it both ways. When super-rich owners invest so heavily in a club, they can do as they please as they have bought that right. The fans wanted trophies and they paid with their voice. |
