One day mankind will realise their mistakes & understand that nature allows mankind to exist.
I say cull the people who pass these acts & leave nature to exist as our creator intended it to be.

"I think it is sad, but what kind of damage are they doing?
What is the reason for the cull?
I believe it's to try and prevent the spread of a certain type of TB. "
Bovine TB. Which ultimately affects the economy. A cull is the cheapest most effective solution. |

"it has never been proved that that badgers carry tb"
never been proven but farmers insist they do, and they are behind it all, badgers at the moment are protected and setts can not be disturbed without defra's permission
if this act is passed, badger baiters will mame the badger and set dogs on to it, all ending with horrific injuries and death for the badger and sometimes the dogs |

Is the disease on this planet caused by nature or is the disease caused by mankind who believe that nature is their disease?
Nature is our existence, mankind is the disease spreader & destroyer.
All have a great day. |

I thought the cull was going to be regulated and as humane as can reasonably be. Also, as with any cull, the numbers of badgers killed will be limited. |

Iv just read up on it...
The cull with be controlled and the badger humanly disposed of....not set about by dogs!!!
It will only be done in a 6 week period...

Who controls them now?
Just because there's going to be a legal cull it doesn't mean that the numbers of illegal badger baiters is going to skyrocket.
And they're not intending on killing them all, just a limited number to reduce the spread of bovine TB. |

"why ant the cattle be innoculated against tb and solve it that way x"
My gut feeling would be down to cost and also contamination of the food chain. The consumer would probably end up footing the bill for livestock being immunized at the checkout. The backlash at price increases would probably outweigh that of those against the cull given the current economic state. |

I would imagine that seeing as we are eating said cattle it may be harmful to us if they have too much medication in them.
Just a guess. |

If I remember right the vaccine only lasts a short time.
A cull has already been carried out in wales and bovine tb dropped in those areas.
Only certain parts are having the cull done. It is regulated and tightly control. There was talk of badgers having the vaccine but to hard to do |

They don't want to kill them all. Just the ones close to infection sites as they carry bovine TB.
Do you think that badger baiting doesn't happen now then? They Just font get caught is all. Same as fox hunters and poachers etc. |

Badger baiting is a separate issue. Obviously without a cull there may be more baiting but only 'cos there will be more badgers to bait.
Cull may be cost effective, doesn't make it right.
It does seem that badgers and cattle pass TB backwards and forwards to each other. As the badgers move from field to field and the cattle do not, you can say that the badgers are responsible for spreading it, but they are only doing what badgers do.
Vaccine not ready yet, so a difficult decision. |

Gosh, you've got a real thing about government sponsored badger baiters. They'll still be illegal as they are now. Nobody will make badger baiting legal and let's face it, those who do badger bait won't pay heed to any law. |

Badger baiting happens already, it's illegal and had been for years, this cull had no bearing on badger baiting in anyway.
Also the do not want to kill them all, they want to reduce the numbers in the areas most badly effected by bovine TB. It is also proved that in areas with lower badger populations there are lower numbers of bovine TB.
Whilst I don't agree with the culling of any animal, I can see why this had been proposed as a solution.
To the person that suggested innoculation if the cattle, I think it make their milk unsuitable for human consumption and cost prevents it being a viable option. |
