as some of you will have seen, i have started to do some exercise recently (walking mainly with a few little runs inbetween).
The trouble is one of my ankles becomes really sore afterwards and so i have to rest it for a few days. I have bought insoles for my trainers and found an old neoprene ankle support knocking around but its still really sore today
any one got any tips on stretches etc i can do? |

If it always hurt after your walk, it could a tendon/ligament that's moving incorrectly. I've read somewhere that Marathon runners have that problem in their knees. It may be worth talking to your GP, stretches might help but could also make things worse for you. Hope you get it sorted. I am not in the medical field btw so its only a suggestion. |

A lot could be put down to doing too much too soon, and not enough rest between activities.
RICE
Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation
Is the best cure
Your c25k program should keep you on the track, but also consider your shoes too.
A lot of people, me included, suffer from over pronation, a rolling inwards if the ankle, so a stability shoe/ trainer helps A good sports shop should be able to advise
Good luck and don't give up |

I do a lot of running sounds like you need different trainers as you should not need insoles really. For the pain get diclofenac from pharmacy helps with pain a lot and also muscle strains.
Good luck. |

My body is titled so I have one hip higher than the other and one of my legs are longer than the other and one foot is a size bigger than the other...my right foot is not straight and goes out to the right...When I do any form of excersise I am in agony...
You really do have to take it easy when you first start to excersise.. step by step and make sure you do stretches first to warm up the muscles and joints...
It might be worth also getting the once over from the doc that you are fit etc.. |

Oh god no !
They're a gimmick to make you think you can lose extra calories by walking
Stability or motion control or support have proper instep and heel and forefoot cushioning to prevent the ankle from rolling
have a gander at the "runners world " website for a proper description. |

I'd say that if you're new to walking/running as an exercise, then its definitely a good idea to try and do most of your miles in fields, woods and generally places with a soft footing, you'll find these are far more forgiving on your joints than concrete. |
