Consider lighting, angles and backgrounds.
You might be looking your absolute best, but if I can see crusty underpants and last week's takeaway on the floor then I'm out.
Timer works for a lot of people. Or taking a video and exporting frames from it.
The occasional extreme close up of something can be good. But not if it's the whole gallery.
Look up. Eyes open. Smile, or at least don't look angry at the camera for a general selfie.
Mood lighting is good. My purple lights soften a lot of flaws 💜 |

"I'm not great at them but reading some posts I started using the timer on my phone. Gives me 10secs to try to fit my arse in the camera view!
Any tips for anyone that struggles with taking pics? "
Wish I could give advice, but most my pics are 10s phone timer as well. 😝
I try to line everything up so that I can slip into the shot with a minimum of fuss in 10s.
I did download a piece of software for my laptop that takes a still every n seconds (you can set it), and I used that for my Halloween bedroom shoot last year. But the laptop cam isn't great, so the pics aren't very high res. |

"Instead of toner and photo use video. Save the video then play and pause to use the slider to get the exact shot you want. Screenshot it and crop it. "
This is the only way I can take a pic. |

"I have a tripod and Bluetooth clicker which makes it much easier especially as I have such short arms, reasonably cheap off amazon. I've heard other people mention screenshotting a video before."
Second this! Best investment ever was a selfie stick and a clicker that I bought off Shein! Can't take a picture without them anymore 😇 |

Various Methods have been recommended that all works ...
Lighting Changes, Angles, Background, Colour/B&W, Screen Grabs from Videos and yes, Someone else taking the Photos for You..
I've been Lazy in that I have a decent Camera set up but have just used the Phone for Most of my Pics.. But I will do some more at some point |

We cheated......
Margo had some ideas for poses and outfits, but we could never get them looking how she wanted.
I found a pro photographer with a studio, made a call, Margo sent over some photo ideas.
After a good chat with the studio I treated her to a professional photoshoot.
Well worth it to see her happy face.

Think about amount, direction and colour of the light you have, avoid using the camera/phone flash as much as possible.
Pay attention to the background.
Take lots and choose the best one.
Don't just use the image as taken, cropping and changing the aspect ratio help make pictures more interesting.
Think about the composition, there's a reason the cropping tool on your phone has grid lines, putting something at an intersection of two lines naturally draws the eye to it.

Think about your background/surroundings - you don’t want someone’s eyes to be drawn to anything else, unless it’s part of the pic.
Take pics in good light - natural if you can.
Be feeling sexy - sexiness oozes through in a pic even without the face.
Enjoy yourself in front of the camera - have fun - a lot of our pics together are of us laughing.

I’m really getting into having photos taken so will try the purple mood lighting!
Also I agree about the background being tidy, although it’s intriguing to see what people’s
Bedrooms are like! Mine is a mess untill Im taking photos then the mess is shoved behind the camera 🤣 |

He enjoyed the doing shoot.
Excited in the way might be suggesting? No.
Totally and utterly professional at all times. As I would expect from someone who's run a professional studio for 20 years and has a reputation to maintain.

If you're going to obtain (extract) a photo from a video then I suggest exporting/saving it as an image.
If you screenshot it then you will invariably degrade the fidelity and/or quality of the image (e.g. something like from 6MP to 0.7MP). The resulting low resolution often shows up in people's profiles. |

The trouble with that method is the video quality on phones is usually several times worse than the picture quality.
After you've cropped video stills you can sometimes see the pixels. I think fabswingers also further reduces the picture resolution when you upload, so the end result sometimes doesn't look so great. |

Good point Betty. I’m gonna try what Nero said. |
