"Less and less people smoke these days. Gone are the times when smoking was marketed as a sexy thing to do. Is the smoking fetish dead? What was it about it that people got so turned on by? "

Smoking is certainly less popular, therefore I would imagine having a fetish involving smoking could well also be less popular.
People smoking isn’t something I have a fetish for, nor do I have any problems with people who wish to smoke. |

Early 20th century it was marketed as a rebellious act by women, piggy
-backing the protests to vote.
It was highly successful. The idea were based on Freud's work, marketing to base animal desires - the ID.
In a world where we are constantly fed rules on how to behave - super ego. We subconsciously seek ways in which to express repressed desires.
According to Freud anyway, right or wrong theoretically - it seems to work. Sex does sell. |
