My computer froze the other night so I just turned it off using the press and hold technique

Now when I boot it up it just says 'operating system not found'

Is there anyway to get it back???

It's a hard disk fault, probably only slightly serious, but you will need someone who knows their job to fix it for you.

Make sure you don't have a CD in the drive, a floppy in the drive, or a usb memory stick connected to the PC. It could be trying to boot from one of those 3 devices. If all 3 are clear and empty, then yep. Your physical hard drive is dead.

Or MBR (Master Boot Record) is corrupted? But if that is the case it is very complex and needs somebody to take you through it.

Don't despair. turn it on keep pressing f12. Should get a boot screen.

There will be a system restore or factory settings. Will take an hour or so to reboot and then will open no probs.

Will be like when bought tho. You will lose all files music photos etc and have to download all programs again like anti virus etc. Will take a day of updates to get it back but worked for me many a time

Hope this helps

I was being humorous, as always

However hard drives are fixable, but Evie you will need someone to look at it, depends on the age of the device and whether it was of value to start with in relation to cost of repairs.

What device is it?
