The Durham Dales/Teesdale are beautiful. The Northumberland coast is gorgeous too.
Whitby can be too busy for my liking but depends when you're going and what the weather is like. It's great to go on a stormy day and watch the waves crashing. |

Seagull numbers are in decline and when they are gliding along in the breeze without flapping their wings they are a wonder to behold |

Whitby is well worth a visit, the Dracula museum is ...  an experience.
Fish n chips in the magpie cafe l, delicious.
But I also recommend staying in York, the Viking museum is brilliant and wondering around the olde worlde shops are a great way to spend your time. |

North York Moors generally are one of my favourite places in the UK (although personally prefer back end of summer/autumn when the heather is out). If you're up that way consider visiting Rosedale, Hutton-Le-Hole and from there definitely eat at the Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge! Nearby is Farndale which looks stunning with a valley of daffodils which will be out shortly too |

There are many places that are very very pretty and worth a visit.
The problem is, a 4 night stay in, say, Edinburg or some pretty place in Cornwall would cost like a full week holiday in Spain, half pension if not full pension or all included.
I’d say to hospitality UK: stop ripping people off and you’ll get tourism. |

I'd recommend the IoM to anyone, the north of Scotland (who am I kidding, just Scotland) and Wales.
We have such variety and beauty in the British Isles, there are too many places to list, but that's my top 3 (as vague as they are). |

It used to be. The crime rate has exploded over the last 6-7 years. The last murder here was in the 6os, but now we have a few a year.
The Isle of Wight was the one place in the UK where everyone bid you a cheery "good morning", but now they'd as soon spit in your face. |

I've not, isn't it a little rowing boat (or was one upon a time?). My friend owned a little shop in the village at Walberswick so spent many a hot, sunny day there when I lived in that neck of the woods! |

Wales has always been a good UK holiday from Shropshire for me all my life especially on a yearly break for the last decade to Talybont north of Barmouth  that break always involves sun, sea, sand, days outs, local darts tournaments & (especially with 2024 in memory) drinking games  |

I absolutely love Norfolk. Love the way of live, the beaches, coastline. Some really nice parts. Have family there so a little biased. The broads are great in the summer. The seals on the beaches Christmas/New year sort of time. A winner in my eyes |

"Tenby and Saundersfoot are two little Gems in West Wales. Seaside villages next to each other, loads of good pubs and eateries and lovely sandy beaches. "
I’d add to this and recommend Pembrokeshire in general.
In fact some of the nicest places in Pembrokeshire are away from Tenby, particularly in the summer, because it can get very crowded with tourists.
St David’s, Bosherston, Narberth, Solva…. and many more |

This post is reminding me why I came back to the UK. It’s such a phenomenal place to explore compared to many countries….
I have a massive list of favourite places in the UK and an even bigger list of places I’m yet to visit but they include the Peak District the Lake District, the Yorkshire Moors and Dales, large parts of the Yorkshire East Coast and Northumberland coast, HAdrian’s wall , Keller
forest North Devon, Cornwall, North Wales, South Wales, Gower Peninsula, Tenby and Caldy Island, Somerset. The C2C coast to cost cycle ride goes through some phenomenal scenery as does the Y3P walk

Wales is the one part of britain ive never had a good holiday in. I love the remote parts but always find that as soon as they find out your from england they start talking in welsh. I would always avoid wales but thats just my preference. |

Personally, I woukd say The Dales have the edge."
Both areas are lovely. However, I love the Moors because I like wilder, barren landscapes rather than prettier rolling hills |

Depends on what you’re looking for, currently enjoying walking the hills and mountains around Pennal, Corris and Dolgellau in North Wales |
