gushing accident question

Sorry yet another gushing thread but i need advice.

Last weekend we went to a hotel for the weekend, just us for a together away from kids.Well im a gusher and so try to put towels down etc however on last morning we surprised ourselves with a quickie just before we left and i ended up soaking the bed, not badly but it was wet! Then on our return we find an email from the hotel saying that as we had pissed the bed they expected us to pay for it! i was mortified but my OH sent them a message saying it was wet because we had sex which you can expect couples to do in a hotel and we already pay for them to clean the sheets, are we liable? can they get us to pay extra......gushing may mean you've had a good hard shag but it can be bloody annoying too! XX

To be fair, I think they are within their rights, maybe you should carry some cheap shower curtains.....

When I organized a house party we wouldn't allow gushers to use the beds, so made a makeshift wet room. Get some cheap shower curtains and remake the bed afterwards as if the bed gets really wet it will ruin the mattress.

No clue if your liable but its the first ive heard of it. Maybe they are just a bit uptight?

Keep on challenging it as they have not had irreprable damage done.

Ive soaked beds literally from top to toe where there were only the two edges and pillow areas dry - I didnt hear anything from the hotel. Though my bones were cold in the morning!!! (nor enough sheets obviously lol)

Sounds like they are being perfectly reasonable.

Any other bodily fluid would be treated the same - blood, pee etc so do the crime, pay the fine...

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

I agree that you are liable.

The staff will have gone to that room an hour or so after you've checked out and found the bed still wet. Hotels do make consideration for some bodily fluids, ie a little blood if a woman has suddenly come on, semen and vaginal fluid, which in my experience dry quickly and only mark the top sheet.

If the bed was still wet and an amount to cause them concern, which clearly it was, then maybe the mattress was wet. You can't blame them for that, other guests may have been scheduled for

that room and it might not have been fit for use until until it was thoroughly

cleaned.

I'd just pay the extra fee.

If you've wet the bed why would you not pay for it to be cleaned? Seems fair enough.

I work in a hotel (albeit in ireland) and as far as im aware you are NOT liable to pay unless the matress was damaged

Shower curtains work really well

I don't like the idea of shower curtains. What about those huge plastic sheets you get in B&Q for decorating. A slip more classy.....?

A bit too Dexter-ish mate. We put a shower curtain in a duvet cover... elegant solution

You gushed in the bed, someone else as got to sleep in that bed so they are within their rights OP to contact you about it as if they've got to replace a mattress it's expensive

I have heard of other people who have been fined for leaving beds wet and I think you will find that there is a clause in the terms and conditions regarding damage to fixtures and fittings.

One meet I had, after the bed got a bit wet first time, we used up all the towels and as far as I know he never got a complaint from the hotel. I was worried because we used all the towels

Just do what we did once which was strip thebed and fold the sheets, pillow cases etc neatly and flip the mattress over before you leave, never heard a word, in fact they probably thought we were really nice for stripping the bed

As I would imagine they've had to replace the mattress, I think they are probably well within their right. Same situation as breaking the bed, really. They have to maintain standards and provide a completely suitable room for the next guests, ect, so they wouldn't have been able to use it again (although I do sometimes wonder why all hotels don't use those plastic matress covers...).

Not having a go but as you KNOW you gush, you sort of left yourself open there by doing it anyway...

You can by some nice waterproof sheets that don't look or feel it. Perhaps get one and take it with you when you do away spend 5 minutes putting it on bed when you get there and bingo ready for if you get the urge

If it was me I would pay for it to be cleaned while blushing and never set foot in said hotel again

In Your Bush

I have invented some plastic pants with an elasticated cock hole in the gusset. They even have a little drain tube attached, just in case they swell up like a water bomb. I have branded them Squirty Pants

Stylish and practical. Never get a damage claim again.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

Just imagine the hotel weren't strict about wet mattresses - and think about you sleeping in someone elses bodily fluid... would you want them to charge someone so it could be cleaned and replaced, or would you happily sleep on someone elses semen, blood, pee, or vaginal fluid?

From working in hotels, you are liable as it is damage to fixtures and fittings - but you can ask for proof of cost of repairs.

In future, I'd carry a waterproof cover of some description, or ask reception for extra towels!

I don't like meeting anywhere apart from my own home for this very reason. I suggest taking plastic sheets if you stay away and have sex. I would expect a hotel to charge for this myself.

You can get waterproof mattress covers if you're not happy with a shower curtain. I had a meet in January where the guy remade the bed before we played as I'm known to get a tad leaky at times.

Quite honestly I think the hotel are perfectly within their rights as they would have to replace either permanently or temporarily the mattress which is a cost which they didn't factor in to your fee for the night.

The hotel chain I work for won't charge for something like that unless.... the hotel is fully booked, and your room had become un-usable for the night, and they had to relocate whoever was staying in there. Because of the cost to them, they would have passed the cost onto you.

Or if you had damaged the mattress to what they assess as being unusable and had to be thrown away, then they would charge you.

Very interesting topic, thanks OP and for the above comments. We had this same issue last Friday night, very wet. I (male) chose to sleep on it after and come waking up my body heat had pretty much dried it out. It is perfectly reasonable what many have suggested regarding liability/right thing to do and cough up. We also stripped the bedding and folded pillows/duvet but we'll definately get a sheet or something. Perhaps a KS pvc sheet for ours and take that, you never know could be fun if we smother it with coconut oil

Ask for proof of purchase for the new mattress. if it only sheets then they should not have been damaged beyond repair..surely they would have changed them anyway

If you have to pay for a new mattress you are within your rights to ask for the old mattress... May just be enough to make them reconsider

Waterproof mattress covers! Under £20 via t'internet or most shops. Pop it over the sheets when you check in - remove before you sleep/check out.

Simples!

As for paying for the mattress - on a stag do a few years ago I ended up booking three rooms as the others didn't have credit cards. One got rat arsed and pissed the bed. I got a letter a week later with an invoice for £100 for a new mattress.

I understood why. I paid. And then told him if he didn't give me the cash I'd tell everyone what had happened, including his mrs!!

He paid up!

perfect solution, is to buy a "kylie " sheet, comes in different colors, has a waterproof backing and a soft toweling top, in sizes to fit everything from a seat to a king size bed.

yes they are for incontinence, but no more embarrassing to buy over the internet then any other sex related item.. easily washed and dried and no crinkling noises when you lie on them..

When I take my dog to stay at a hotel, I have to pay extra for him for the privilege, and am liable for extra cleaning charges should he make a mess.

Therefore, I do not believe the hotel is being unreasonable.
