Great film. Once remember Jonathan Ross presenting the comedy awards and Britt Ekland came up to give an award.
He said: "Britt, before I present this award I just want to say thank you for helping me get through those difficult teenage years"
I knew exactly what he meant! Although, it was actually Ingrid Pitt in the bath later that really did it for me! |

"What makes a film into a 'cult' film? Is it the fact that actually, it's crap, but its said to be a 'cult' film by people who want to be thought of as 'cool'
Mrs BB x x"
No a cult film in my opinion is a movie that is not a hollywood blockbuster or made on an immense budget, but instead is made by independant film makers and not made by the so called hollywood rules.
Cult films do not neccesarily appeal to the masses therefore are often enjoyed by a smaller following ( hence the phrase cult following )There are obviously exceptions to the rule and this is just my opinion lol |

A cult film is one that doesn't normally do very well at the box office when released and then goes onto great acclaim later such as The Shawshank Redemption which is claimed by many to be the best movie ever made!! (its mine, never fail to be blown away by the skill of the acting and directing in this film)
Sometimes they have a smallish Cult fan base for B Movies. And films like Fight Club did very well at the box office and still can be claimed to be a cult film
As for cult films i like and if you haven't seen them then rent today!! :-
Zoolander
Spinal Tap
Blade Runner
Leon
Apocalypse Now
The Shawshank Redemption
The Big Lebowski

I hated the remake. It took itself far too seriously. The originals were great because they were 'hammy'. The remake was just gory... |

The best thing about evil dead was the fact it didn't take itself too seriously loved the whole series of films
Rocky horror picture show
Red dawn ( original)
Serenity
Breakfast club
Dude where's my car
Jay and silent bob strikes back
Way too many to mention )))

What a strange thing to say. So basically anyone who likes a cult film is pretentious? |

I prefer foreign and low budget films to most of the usual hollywood fodder (although there are a few exceptions below)
Fahrenheit 451
Fargo
Dogville (Lars Von Trier fucking with your head- no set, rough script, few props- totally engrossing once your head gets used to the headfuck)
Taxi (French version- Luc Besson directed, not the shite Hollywood remake)
Run Lola Run
Doberman
Rabbit Proof Fence (Don't watch this if you're feeling delicate)
Once Were Warriors (best not watch this one if you're delicate too)
Flags of our Fathers & Letters of Iwo Jima (Speilberg & Eastwood directing. should watch them in this order- suggest watching Iwo Jima first as it made more sense to me that way)
Ronin
The Orphanage (El Orfanato)
Old Boy
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance
City of God
Ghost Dog
Fear of a Black Hat (Spinal Tap for Hip Hop)
The Abyss
Falling Down (one of the few decent films staring Michael Douglas)
The Straight Story (one of those really nice, gentle, sweet, entertaining films that you watch on a wet sunday afternoon)
Wendy & Lucy (shot on a budget smaller than tea budget for most Hollywood films but the director still persuaded Michelle Williams to play the lead in it)
and for those of you tempted to have a go at making your own movie...Lost in La Mancha- the story of Terry Gilliams attempt to make Don Quixote
Should keep the film geeks here busy for a few weeks |

"

Its good, with a nice twist but i wouldn't class it as amazing. The stand out film from the list for me is Dogville as the very idea of releasing a film shot that way is on the verge of crazy/genius |
