All over devon, I love a road trip! |
"Prince!
Was just talking about this with my mate a couple of weeks ago. So underrated "
Not by me, personally he's an amazing guitarist. (Self taught musician too) When he plays the guitar solo for " while my guitar gently weeps" with a whole heap of guitarists and throws the guitar off at the end....🤣 My job here is done AV that! Awesome! |

Yes very much. Out of all of the amazing artists we lost in that period he was the one that affected me the most. An amazing body of work.. |

I struggle with defining "underrated". Apart from a half dozen globally recognised megastars, you could argue the case for almost anyone to at least be "underappreciated" due to being not widely known.
Good shout by the OP for Aynsley Lister... But if he was more widely known you wouldn't get to see him at the 100 club for £20.
A few more that I think deserve wider recognition, Chris Buck (cardinal black), Oli Brown, Marcus Bonfanti, Davey Knowles. |

"Doyle bramhall II ,with the arc angels and now solo, played in Eric Clapton's band"
I know what you're saying about Doyle but in guitar geek circles he's highly lauded. He should be more popular in general though. Agreed.

Jeff Buckley - of course being blessed with one of the most stunning voices ever to be recorded was a huge smoke screen causing his stellar guitar playing to be overlooked.
Same as Prince, so another shout out for him, with his abilities as a multi-musician, producer, engineer, dancer and choreographer having the same effect. |

Piotr Wiwczarek
zakk wylde
darrell abbott
More underrated to those that aren’t familiar with metal, but to those that are these guys are some of the top of their game. I’d say skill wise they’re geniuses. |

Not so much underrated, those that are aware of him are fully appreciative of his talent, but often overlooked in the shadows of Peter Green, I put forward Danny Kerwan , I personally would rate him as Greens equal. |

I really like the bad/couldn't-care-less players like Johnny Thunders, and I love the way Marc Bolan used to try to play well outside of his actual ability which was basic at best! - some of his live stuff he doesn't even play a solo in the same key as the song - it's so wrong it's right. ![](/icons/s/cool.gif) |

"I'd say Suzanne Vega..
The kind of fingerpicking patterns she uses are quite difficult if you try & break them down. (Also whilst singing at the same time.)
"
Saw her in a tent at Glastonbury in '99 & she was awesome. "The Queen & The Soldier" was unbelievable. |

Marty Willson-Piper, his work with All About Eve on their later albums is superb.
Steve Rothery of Marillion, such a delicate touch, check out a live version of Easter, Seasons End, or The Great Escape on YouTube. |
