I was talking to someone yesterday who said he has not spoken to his siblings (all three of them for years). I asked why and he said one had a serious argument with and with the other two, just drifted apart. Is that quite common? I am very close to mine and their families. |

I am also very close to my family (I have two sisters and a brother) and find it interesting when people don't talk to their siblings as I can't imagine it. But I know not every family is like mine. |

None of us have had a falling out and not spoken to each other as adults.
Only the eldest two argued as teenagers.
I see one of my siblings a couple of times a month or more.
The others, we all get together now and then for family food and drinks.

I speak to one of my 3 siblings.
1 is an undiagnosed narsasist that will watch the world burn than admit she is wrong about the slightest thing, dragging everyone down with her.
One wouldn't know an original thought if it gave him a seizure, and just parrots whatever pussy he's fucking at the times opinions. Gets old fast.
3rd stays out of family drama like me so u still speak to him. |

Our mother and her siblings have a massive rift dividing them, some get on and some don't. It's horrible, because we used to be a close (big) family. Cousins' kids don't even know eachother. Same on Mr's side too.
My sister is one of my best friends, I can't imagine doing life without her! |

I'm only close with one of my siblings but will always be around for both my brothers if they needed me. The rest can go to hell and even that wouldn't be far enough. I know people find it strange as we are family, share DNA etc but even evil has to be born somewhere I suppose. |

I only have the one. We speak relatively often.
I've not spoken to or seen my mother since my Grandad's funeral, almost exactly 4yrs ago. |

Thanks all for sharing. It is interesting how so many aren't close to their siblings though I appreciate there will be good reasons or just life in general. Mine are my rock and I have always been there for them and their families too and thankful for that. |

I only have one
We are very different people - not alike at all
I wouldn't choose them as a friend
They are now, however, the only immediate family I have
So I wouldn't rock the boat or cut them off for holding different views and opinions, which is what it really amounts to |

Yeah, my brothers a cunt and his wife an even bigger one. He has alienated himself from every member of the family and there aren’t many of us. I’m talking his aunt, uncle and various cousins. Not just me and my family
You really don’t get to choose family. If you did, I wouldn’t have chose him |

I’m lucky as my brother is great. Hated him as a child as was always dumped with looking after him as he’s 7 years younger her than me however becoming adults we had a very different relationship and he stepped up for my daughter when her dad walked out. They too have a very special relationship now. |

That’s nothing I haven’t spoken to mine for 10 years. I suppose it depends who your sibling is with regards to how close you are |

I'm not in contact with my brother any longer. I want to be. We haven't had a falling out or anything. We just lead completely different lives in completely different locations. And maybe we have nothing in common anymore? And don't know how to relate to each other anymore?
It's sad and I miss him. I keep reaching out because I'll always want a relationship with him but he continually does not respond. |

I have multiple sibs… 3 I’m in contact with most days… rarely more than a few days when our lives get busy, the others… I see them when I travel to my home town but don’t really message or call each other… but that’s just how we’ve always been |

Once again, thanks for sharing. It seems that for various reasons people can often drift apart from family and siblings in particular. Everybody's life and circumstances can differ and we all make the best of it that we can. |

I have one brother and one sister, both older and they both live in Oz.
They both had positive influences on my life growing up.
We probably don't speak often enough via phone but I do go and visit them once a year which feels like a giant dose of goodness.
Back there at the end of March and I just can't wait,😁😁😁 |

I haven't spoken to my brother for nearly 29yrs and have no intentions of starting. I don't even acknowledge that I have a sibling most of the time.
I've been told he has throat cancer via my kids and mother. But I couldn't care less.

I hardly talk to mine but when we do, we just pickup from where we left off; there's no I'll feelings between them and me, we're just that kind of family that doesn't need to be close to be close. |

I don't speak with my two brothers as they are massively homophobic. They stated that I was going to hell. It was only mum whom kept us together but she died in 2012. I went to her funeral and then went straight home. I didn't want to stay for the wake, especially as they would have been drinking.
I have a handful of close friends whom are my family. ![](/icons/rainbow.png) |

Speak to my siblings every week , don’t see them do often due to distance, but all the kids , cousins etc get on really well , never been a rift at any time, not lucky , just had great parents who taught respect |

Sadly my only sibling passed away over 13 years ago. We were very close growing up,less so in the last few years before they died, due to addiction.
I know a couple of people who aren't close to their siblings and some who aren't close to their own children too. |

I've not spoken to my older siblings in over a decade.. I hope to never have to talk to them again

I'm in communicato with my family on WhatsApp, 2 of my sister's live in Ireland and not too far from me. I don't get on with my family,(my sister's are the worst) in fact, they've told me I'm an embarrassment.....
If my family decided to never come home again, I'd be happy..... I don't want to fall out with them completely but I don't like them because of the way they treat me..... One of these days I'm going to explode and tell them some home truths and most likely not talk to them again until the following year and never zoom chat with them ever again.....
Covid caused us to chat on zoom and we did that for 2/3 years, haven't done a family zoom chat for at least a year to 18 months thanks bay to Jaysus!! I get stressed every time a member of my family say they're coming over for a weekend or more, I absolutely dread it and am relieved and glad when they've gone back! ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

Need to correct this..... all my siblings have said I'm an embarrassment, except one of my brothers who lives in the States. |
