Don't put pressure on each other to select gifts and potentially have "the chat" just because it's 14th February. If you want to do something nice together on that day then go for it, but do it because you both want to and not because you feel obligated to.
We don't do valentine's gifts or cards. We know every day that we love, care and appreciate each other because we show it through our thoughtfulness and kindness, not because we feel obliged one day a year to buy crap from the supermarkets. We also discuss our fantasies throughout the year, not just on valentine's day.
