Leather in the office

Just curious as to people’s thoughts on a woman wearing leather in an office environment.

A colleague who is mid 40’s often wears leather skirts, leather trousers/leggings into the office and she does look amazing in it.

Is there a line when it comes to office attire and leather?

I’d suggest perhaps a chest harness and strapon are probably not appropriate.

Otherwise… let people wear what they want

I've been known to head in to the office wearing leather my self. Although they are bike leathers so don't think they do anything for anyone

If she looks good in leather good for her

Eh!? I'd say the line for office attire isn't in fabric but in design. So if women turn up in a micro mini skirt or men on latex hot pants it might cause a stir around the water cooler.

Leather might hold connotations for you but you shouldn't assume it does for her.

Why should the material be an issue?

I would say having a leather harness or chaps maybe a bit out of line as office dress, but not a skirt or leggings.

Hey guys, I have no issues with it at all. I love leather and enjoy seeing her walk through the door to reveal her latest outfit.

It makes going to work enjoyable for me.

It was just a curious question that I wondered other people’s thoughts on.

As someone who likes a lady in a pair of nice leather pants...I can see why it may be slightly distracting.

Also as someone who works in an office, I can see somewhere the line has to be drawn. So long as they're not overly tight you can see everything going on beneath or they're not extremely short then for me there isn't an issue - but then again my office isn't exactly a shirt and tie culture so so long as you don't turn up in a bikini or a t-shirt with offensive slogans your're pretty much free to wear whatever.

Back office I seen issues, customer facing, I would consider who the customers were before judging.

I ware a leather jacket to work, is that held against a man?

I'm confused now. .

Why do you think it's unusual or there's a line when it comes to leather clothes?

I wouldn't wear a leather skirt or trousers for office work because they 'seat' very quickly if you sit down in them a lot and it ruins them .

Is it real leather or that coated stuff ?

If a woman looks good in a certain fabric it's no reason for her not to wear it at work. If men like it it's so irrelevant that it's not worth mentioning but it really doesn't make it inappropriate work wear.

It’s real leather as she is a classy lady.

I only asked because a guy in the office commented that he wouldn’t allow his wife to wear leather in her office.

It probably says more about him than anything else but I was curious as I don’t see an issue with it but he obviously does.

I'd rather work with someone who is comfortable in what they are wearing than someone who is not.

On a sidenote, I'm still annoyed that I was once told I'd let the side down by going home to get my carpet slippers when we had a dress down day

I don't know why I'm laughing because I know that men like that abound

I did challenge him about it and told him that it’s up to her what she wears. He just grunted something back at me and carried on working!

I also asked if he asked her if he was allowed to wear his clothes to work and he said I’m just being pedantic now.

Which is why I brought the topic to the forum to try to prove that I was right.

Yeah men who think women only wear clothes for men's benefit and objectify women like that assume all men think that way.

Why would this be inappropriate? Leather dresses/skirts/pants are mainstream fashion. If she was in a latex catsuit fair enough.

Crazy isn’t it. The woman in our office is happily married with a lovely family. She wears really stylish and expensive clothes and always looks good.

She does it because it suits her, makes her feel comfortable and she is a confident woman.

I think the other guy is a knob and I think his Mrs is the unlucky one!

It’s her freedom of choice.

Complete problem for me with a leather fetish .. No1 being leather pencil skirts. Anyone with a fetish for a woman in certain clothes will know how it’s probably the last thing you need in the workplace . Until the Xmas night out of course.. xx

If you work for PETA it's probably a bit inappropriate as a material.

Otherwise, fuck no. Unless the employee handbook specifies not to wear them for a reasonable reason 💜
