Anybody moved from up North to down south or vice versa.

Yep. I’m a northerner down south. Not sure about regrets. I didn’t have a choice really as was still at home with parents. I missed family up there but I wouldn’t have the life and children I have now. |

Yes, I have moved from a small town near Manchester to Aberdeen. I do regret it in some ways because I miss my family and my social life there, but I like my job and home where I am now. I may move back one day the move itself is daunting just thinking about it 🤔 |

Leighton Buzzard |
Moved from Scotland to Leighton over 15 years ago. Never looked back. I still love wild camping up that way in the summer, but the opportunities down here just didn’t exist up north. At least, not in Dundee! |

Hubby moved as a 17 year old to Brighton from the Wirral. After a year or two he moved to Rottingdean, just outside Brighton.
Came back up North about 5 years after moving down there, he had a great time whilst living down South and Rottingdean is one of the few places we'd consider moving to, it's lovely as is where we currently live, Mrs x |

I've moved from Ireland, to Zambia then to Liverpool and finally the Wirral.
Can't recall anything from Ireland as I was only a baby when we left. Zambia I liked as I was there until I was about 11 years old. Like most kids I had no worries and just spent all of my time playing with my sister.
Liverpool I loved and was there throughout most of my teens, was skit at for my 'strange' accent but quickly developed a Scouse one and the Wirral is where I've spent virtually all of my adulthood and I love this too, Mrs x |

You're still a Northerner at heart though |

I moved from south London to Essex in my late twenties and then from Essex to North West Leicestershire in my mid thirties and I’ve been here ever since. I miss elements of London and the south but it’s not “home” anymore to be honest.
My current abode is a small rented cottage on a farm and it couldn’t be more different from Central Croydon or Colchester!
The most difficult bit has been adjusting to the language ![](/icons/s/2/cute.gif) |

I've been up and down the country rather too much. In my adult life I moved from Manchester to London suburbs, then to Yorkshire and am now in Oxford which I cordially loathe, being Yorkshire by birth and nature, ansd that's where my children are, so I visit frequently. I will move back when I feel I need to be nearer to them in my old(er) age. |

"Brucey came to us in Manchester, of course. But soon retreated to the south
I think that was a long weekend! "
He'd supposedly got a new job but it was almost a day trip hardly much longer than an interview ![](/icons/s/cool.gif) |

My wife and I's decision to move from Crawley to Manchester was the best decision ever.
Love Manchester but also have loved exploring and discovering wonderful people and places whilst travelling across the north west generally. |

I've lived in 10 different cities all up and down the UK since 99,
Moving has its ups and downs but I would say I pretty much had a blast where ever I've lived.
Going somewhere new is always very exciting,😁 |

South Shields |
Worked In Islington for nearly a year and hated it.
Weekends were great. some great bars and restaurants but just didnt clique with the people.
Can honestly say I didnt make one single person that I could call a friend. And god forbid you made eye contact with someone and said Hello.
Still..I sold the flat and it paid for a nice place in Harrogate that iam moving to full time next year and my place in So Shields.
North wins everytime for me |

I've done it both ways.
Moved from Newcastle to London. Lived there for 7 years and had a great time.
Then decided to move back North, Leeds first for 3 years then back to the promised land, Newcastle.
Although I had a great time in London I can honestly say it's waaaaaay better in Newcastle.
Your friends/colleagues are generally easier to see and socialise with as they're usually a lot closer.
People are a lot less transient, air quality is better and generally the quality of life is better.
Never mind the extra earnings in London - that's soon spent.
I do still like to occasionally work in and visit London though. It can be good craic.

I moved from the sunny Sussex coast to just south of Manchester nearly 3 years ago. I do have pangs for the beautiful coast when the weather is warm and I do miss my offspring but no regrets at all! I'm happy to be north of the m25 for sure! That motorway is like a huge wall keeping the people of Kent and Sussex from getting up the country!
Cherry x😁 |

Totally get what you mean about the M25. I still go back down to the coast to visit family near Bognor. I’m m25 phobic. Always looking for an alternative. I’m at home in Manchester now and get a sense of relief once past Stoke. The home run. |
